IT Server Storage Engineer
CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Information Technology group. We are looking for a Linux Engineer to be responsible for engineering activities associated with one or more technical areas within our Server/Storage function such as, but not limited to, solution design, engineering, implementation or operations/user support. You must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, possess the ability to analyze and problem solve as well as prioritize tasks to complete requests and meet deadlines. The ability to work independently once given work direction is a must. You will: Perform routine and complex administration for all Linux systems and a non-trivial amount of administration of Windows systems.Perform routine and complex administration for Cloudera Hadoop ClustersPerform routine and complex administration for SAP systems in conjunction with Basis teamTaking, working, and owning tickets and consulting with more senior engineers on troubleshooting and resolutionEngage, interact with, and drive vendor and peer support team resolution of virtual application/environment and server related incidentsTrain and give technical support to new and existing customers of server systems and peer support teams/resourcesUtilize system configuration tools such as SUSE Manager & Chef and ensure reviewed system implementations for technical completeness.Utilize Solarwinds / Orion, and other tools to proactively monitor and manage Linux and Windows Systems; monitor the data centers & remote sites, and perform compliance changes.Install new hardware and software according to established templates, provide feedback on improvements to process, and respond to system failures.
Build and deploy server hardware and operating systems, install 3rd party software as required.Work within CHS IT change and governance processesMaintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions Basic Qualifications: (required)High school diploma is requiredMinimum of 2 years previous experience in supporting UNIX/Linux infrastructure and systemsExperience with troubleshooting problems from the Application tier, through the OS and Network tiersAbility to work after hours and weekends on an as needed basisAbility to participate in a revolving ?on-call? support schedule support/triage multiple platforms Preferred Qualifications: (desired)Bachelor of Science degree is preferredExperience managing medium to large (>500 systems) environmentsExperience with customer requirements and create scalable configuration models to support themExperience with/passion for/understanding of DevOps and specifically with an organization transitioning to DevOps, including Source Control, TFS, GIT, etc.Experience with/passion for/understanding of automating server provisioning and administration tasks using tools and API functionalityExperience with SUSE LinuxExperience with Chef or other configuration management tools, e.g. Puppet, AnsibleExperience with HadoopExperience institutionalizing knowledge and training others in the operational support of technical environments
