The Land OLakes Supply Chain & Operations division provides strategic leadership across the companys many business units. The team plays a significant role in fueling revenue growth and profitability through operational excellence, quality, process improvement and innovation. By partnering closely with Finance, Marketing and Human Resources, the team delivers value to Land OLakes business units, members and customers.
The Tulare Plant Labs' primary functions are to perform accurate and timely sample testing results on dairy samples submitted by both internal and external customers. This position is responsible for the overall management and operations of internal lab operations.
Responsibilities include the development and implementation of strategic and tactical planning processes that result in sales volume and net profitability growth. Directs and oversees all labs testing operations, insuring methods and procedures are technically valid and reliable; meet internal and regulatory requirements; and efficiently produce high quality results for internal and external customers. Responsible for maintaining and cultivate highly effective relationships with internal and external customers. Directs and oversees the use of Lab resources at (Staff, equipment, and analysis and computer technology.)
Develop new lab processes and procedures to enhance commercial lab productivity and profitability while maintaining lab results integrity. Develops and implements a highly effective, commercially viable Synchronized Nutrition lab at our multiple locations. Consult with Lab Supervisor regarding HR issues affecting the Labs' performance. Reviews and approves HR actions such as staffing, training and development, compensation and employee relations. Ensure compliance with all OSHA and internal safety guidelines.
Ensure that all lab staff is fully trained in and knowledgeable of all Lab safety rules, regulations and procedures including strict adherence to all safety precautions. Implement corrective measures, including disciplinary action, when safety violations occur.
-BS Degree in Food Science, Microbiology or Chemistry degree with 5 plus years proven track record preferably in food manufacturing or consumer goods industry
-Experience in process design and people management skills required
-knowledge of food microbiology testing and the ability to interpret results
-Must have strong knowledge and understanding of food safety / HACCP, GMPs, Allergen Controls, Sanitary design/controls, pest control, basic food regulations, specifications, analytical and microbiological lab methods desired and basic food technology
-Possesses extensive knowledge in the use, trouble-shooting and maintenance of laboratory instruments and associated software
-Must be a leader, team builder and motivator
-Good working knowledge of GMP regulations
-Ability to work under tight timelines
-Excellent record keeping / documentation skills / budget management
-Support the manufacturing facilities with routine, investigatory, and developmental Chemistry, Microbiological, and Product Compliance testing
-Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
-Proactive approach towards improving processes and systems
