Laboratory Technician ? Decatur, ILADM ResearchThis is a full time, non-exempt positionPosition Summary:The Research and Development organization has an opening for a laboratory technician in the process chemistry and catalysis group located in Decatur, Illinois. Under the direction of manager, project leader or senior scientist this individual is expected to assist in daily operations involving ordering, maintaining inventory, housekeeping, and laboratory work in support of projects within the process chemistry and catalysis group.Responsibilities: Perform all job functions in accord with company safety guidelinesInsure other laboratory technicians, contract employees, and other co-workers comply with ADM laboratory standardsMaintain an accurate chemical and equipment inventoryOrder chemicals and supplies as neededDevelop and execute experimental plans with project leader to accomplish project goalsMaster construction, set up, maintenance, and operation of automated laboratory reactor systems and data acquisition.Report on status of research activities through verbal updates, written reports, and presentationsMaintain proper housekeeping and observes safety standardsCommunicate with ADM colleagues, contractors, and suppliers, sending clear appropriate concise messages that express ideas, interpretations, and feedbackResolve conflicts effectively to encourage teamwork, without breaking cohesion and trustWork productively and efficiently by being organized, prepared and supporting and assisting fellow team members whenever necessaryParticipate in safety reviews with colleagues on a variety of projectsRequirements:
B.S. degree in science related field is preferredAbility to execute complex scientific experiments and document resultsAbility to set up, operate and maintain laboratory and pilot equipmentStrong organizational skills Strong computer skillsProficient in Microsoft OfficeUnderstand, track, and question activities and issuesAbility to function independently while interacting with ADM management, facility management, and ADM contract employeesAbility to troubleshoot and problem solve in a team environmentEffective writing and oral communication skillsMeticulous attention to detailMaintain confidential and highly sensitive informationAffinity toward milestone driven and performance based environmentsRelocation assistance is not available with this position.
