He/She will be accountable to help develop programs to increase awareness to target market segments by translating Compass Minerals Plant Nutrition goals into effective local marketing communications. Direct responsibilities include increasing brand awareness, driving inbound sales activity through different processes and provide support to the sales team to achieve sales targets. He/she will be interfacing with sales, agronomy, marketing, equipment, customer care and various corporate functions. This role will drive sales growth of Compass Minerals product portfolio to new customers within the assigned geography. Achieving the overall objectives will require creativity and innovation to define and execute a lead and demand generation strategy based on value-add sales.    RESPONSIBILITIES               Develop and manage highly-productive demand generation programs that demonstrate a ROI for overall Plant Nutrition PortfolioEffectively use marketing tools to increase the scale of demand generation programsAlign Demand Generation programs with product messaging strategiesDevelop programs to increase awareness to target local market segments by translating company goals into effective marketing communicationsResponsible for targeted grower lead and demand generation.  The Lead and Demand Generation Specialist, ABM, SA, and Regional Agronomy Lead, will build a list of growers that will be the responsibility for the Specialist to prospect, create demand, and manage throughout the customer lifecycle.Responsible for targeted COI (centers of influence; e.g. PCAs, CCAs) prospecting, training, demand creation and managing the relationships.Lead and Demand Generation Specialist will be evaluated on how they perform with their grower and COI targeted lists.Manage and drive key business metrics including sales leadsDrive inbound sales activity through a variety of potential sourcesEnsure leads flow to sales team in an effective and efficient mannerProvide support to the sales team to achieve growth targetsWork closely with research/sales personnel, industry contacts and Compass Minerals personnel to accurately assess market conditions and identify new product opportunitiesWork closely with the sales and agronomy teams to validate product performance on key crops and geographies, for both new and old and products, with field trials designed to strengthen overall sales and marketing messagesIdentify and implement new promotional tactics to create awarenessProvide market intelligence with regard to competitor pricing, programs, marketing, promotion and productsWork effectively and cooperatively with peers and colleagues in Sales & Marketing, Customer Service, Equipment, and other corporate functions.Actively engage in appropriate industry associations and trade shows as required EDUCATION                          Bachelor’s Degree in agricultural business or equivalent education and experience; Masters or MBA preferred.  EXPERIENCE                         Minimum of seven years ag sales, ag marketing and ag business management experience in agriculture preferably the fertilizer space.   COMPETENCIES                  Collaborative leadership style, with strong focus on creating value and focusing on results.Expertise in agriculture, marketing and sales.   Strategic thinking, planning and execution skills.Clear and effective decision makingDemonstrated ability to communicate and share results with MS PowerPoint using charts, graphs, and summarizing data.Superior customer facing interactions, including ability to influence both external and internal stakeholders.Strong selling skills and demonstrated effectiveness in value add sales and marketing.Problem solving skills to identify complex drivers and potential solutions.Willingness and ability to prospect, train, develop relationships, support sales team, and work closely with growers and COI’s.
