Position Summary:ADM is building a new Pilot plant for the production of FDME from fructose at its Development products facility in Decatur, IL.
ADM is seeking a knowledgeable person familiar with food and chemical processing operations for the commissioning and day to day operational activities of equipment at a new FDME Pilot Plant in Decatur, IL. The applicant will be expected to become a qualified operator within three months. Operators are expected to monitor and control process parameters to achieve desired product specifications by analyzing system controls, log sheets, and lab reports. The applicant is expected to perform a variety of jobs, tasks or duties such as housekeeping, painting, oiling, greasing, lubrication, sample retrieval, and a variety of duties as required. The plant is to produce pilot quantities of FDME for applications testing utilizing various production processes and operational functions. These include material handling, reactors, distillation, and other separations. Job Responsibilities: Primary responsibility will be to ensure successful daily operation of the ADM FDME pilot facility through monitoring and adjustment of production equipment with both manual and computerized controlsAdditional responsibilities include material handling, mixing batches, collecting and entering samples, and basic housekeepingThe lead technician will be responsible for the operation of the entire process during their shift.
This will include leading other technicians and laborers.To effectively accomplish the needs of the position a candidate must be able to work and communicate effectively with other operators, supervisors, maintenance, and contractor personnel to determine priorities and complete work assignments in a timely matter. The lead operator must be able to communicate priorities and actions to other operators.
Candidate must be able to safely perform quality work with minimal supervision to achieve ADM FDME pilot plant goals. These include: Proactively participate in plant safety and quality programs. Must take ownership for their own personal safety and the safety of others through a commitment to safe behaviors, a safe work environment, and adherence to safety policies and proceduresAssist in training and mentoring of new techniciansBe a resource for other technicians during their shiftIdentify and troubleshoot equipment operating problems and upsetsMonitor all equipment and systems; and make adjustments in order to safely produce quality productsAssist in developing and complying with SOP?s and assists in training/coaching of personnel in the
SOP?sAssist in the developing and complying with safety, environmental, quality, and production procedures/policiesManage and control electric and instrument materialsSuccessfully complete all continuous education requirements including, but not limited to, safety and environmental rules and regulations, process equipment, controls, and technologiesThe employee will work in a plant environment and is expected to initiate work based on general instructions. The physical requirements of the job requires ability to climb stairs, lifting up to 55 lbs, prolonged periods of standing and sitting, computer work, meeting deadlines, providing calculated information, working in confined spaces and from heights, bending, kneeling, working adjusted hours, and working as instructed.
