Lead Separations Specialist
DescriptionCorteva Agriscience is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Chromatographic Purification Specialist to join our Chemistry Purification Lab within Crop Protection Discovery. Candidates should have a strong background in analytical chemistry & chromatographic separations in both preparative and analytical scale method development and be familiar with a variety of LC equipment. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to interact and collaborate cross-functionally with a variety of scientists. S/he will proactively participate in the process design and execution of prep scale chromatographic separation of a variety of organic compounds in support of the Crop Protection Discovery Chemistry group.Key Responsibilities:Lead team to execute preparative scale chromatographic separation of small organic moleculesAssess samples for preferred separation method, ensure chromatography is successful and complete quality control on final productCommunicate with team members and research partners to deliver high quality results in a timely mannerRefine separations process to ensure both high efficiency and high quality are deliveredAssess new technology, automation and processes to maximize lab impact for customersBe a positive role model for safetyPartner with analytical team members as neededCarry out general laboratory functions (sample processing/labeling/sample transfer/ordering consumables) QualificationsBS + 2-7 years or MS + 0-5 years industry experience in analytical chemistry or a similar disciplineExceptional analytical & preparative scale technique and knowledge base, including the operation and hands-on troubleshooting of multiple types of analytical-prep instrumentation including HPLC prep, Flash, and LC-MS instruments are required.Experience creating new process flows including electronic tracking systems is a plus.Proven ability to work well and collaborate with others, both in small group and cross-functional team settings is a must for success.Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment are essential attributes.Must possess excellent communication skills.The successful candidate should be familiar with LC/MS and electrospray ionization, UV/Vis photodiode array detection. The ability to effectively operate and maintain analytical instrumentation and work with automation (ability to program is a plus) is highly desired. Previous experience working in a laboratory environment and strong computer proficiency is required. Candidates must be able to work independently (after appropriate training) and be a positive role model for safety. A professional, customer-focused attitude is necessary. The ability to work in a team environment is also critical for this role.
