Lead Special Assets Officer
At CoBank, our Lead Special Assets Officer manages an assigned Special Assets loan portfolio of CoBank s financially-challenged agribusiness and rural infrastructure borrowers, in which CoBank may be the lead lender or in cooperation with other financial institutions. The Lead Special Assets Officer works to appropriately manage risk with a view toward the desired approach of improving the borrower s financial performance and ultimately retaining relationship, and managing risk reduction and the relationship exit process when necessary. This individual is responsible for assessing CoBank s risk in each situation to develop an appropriate loan servicing strategy solution, coordinating with tax, legal, audit and regulatory officials at the highest levels, and providing recommendations to CoBank senior management, credit management and other lending executives to manage or reduce exposure to high risk borrowers.Basic QualificationsBachelor s degree in business, finance, or relevant discipline. Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience; or an appropriate combination of education and experience.Preferred QualificationsIn-depth knowledge of complex lending, financial structuring/restructuring, credit arrangements, and other bank products.In-depth knowledge of loan workout issues including bankruptcy, troubled debt restructurings, and creditors' rights.Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders.Excellent negotiation, oral and written communication skills.Knowledge of specific industry, key risks, long-term issues.Strong background required in the areas of large corporate & middle market agribusiness and rural infrastructure lending, credit facilities restructuring and bankruptcy.Strong inter-personal skills, with proven ability to interface with multiple, varied stakeholders in challenging and complex circumstances including: internal CoBank partners, customer management teams and boards of directors, financial institutions, legal counsel, financial advisors and other professionals.Demonstrated creativity and innovation in developing and implementing lending solutions.Ability to draw upon many and varied resources to complete and finalize transactions.Moderate travel required to meet with borrowers, other professionals and attend industry meetings.CoBank will not sponsor a work visa (e.g. H1B, etc.) to fill this position.CoBank is an Equal Opportunity Employer.Apply for this job.
