Letter of Credit Specialist

At CoBank, our Letter of Credit Specialist performs technical transaction processing related to entering, amending and paying direct, import and export documentary collections. It also includes the issuing, amending and paying of Standby and Import Letters of Credit. This person will also provide high-level customer service with particular emphasis on processing documents promptly and without exposure to the bank. They will also facilitate sending SWIFT messages used in international trade transactions.Become part of a solid team in our new, modern and ever growing Denver office! Letter of Credit Specialists play an important role in helping CoBank s customers (i.e., importers, exporters and correspondent banks) involved in international trade and add to the bank s mission of serving as a dependable provider of credit to agriculture and rural infrastructure businesses. The position provides the individual the ability to support the international banking group s lending activities and maintains compliance with internationally accepted regulations governing Letters of Credit as well as USDA policies relating to government programs to ensure the quality of the bank s assets.Basic QualificationsHigh School diploma5 years experience preferably in banking or financial services industry, or appropriate combination of education and experiencePreferred QualificationsBasic knowledge of principles of accountingGeneral knowledge of ICC Uniform Customs & Practice for Documentary CreditsBeginning to intermediate knowledge of banking perspective on documentary collections, it s issuance, amendment and payment processing in accordance with current ICC Uniform Rules for Collections, and CoBank s international banking standards.Demonstrated tact and persuasiveness, excellent negotiation, organization and interpersonal, oral and written communication skills in dealing with foreign and domestic customers/borrowers/financial institutions.General knowledge of personal computers and software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.Must be detail-oriented.Ability to work effectively under time constraints and changing priorities.Work outside of traditional hours required, based on business needServes as Mission Critical Personnel for business continuity and reduced staffing scenarios.CoBank will not sponsor a work visa (e.g. H1B, etc.) to fill this position.CoBank is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
