We currently have a position available at our BUSINESS facility in Othello Plant – Othello, WA. Located in Washington's beautiful Columbia Basin, Othello is surrounded by scenic parks and wildlife. SUMMARYSummary:To ensure warehouse materials are received and delivered in a manner consistent with operational goals. The C/S Lift Truck Operator is a member of a team which includes a Warehouse Teamleader, Operators, Coordinators, Carloaders, and Carrier Operators. The members of this team are accountable to the Warehouse Superintendent and Warehouse Teamleader. Members of this team who work on the back shifts are accountable to the Shift Manager and the Shipping Coordinator. The Othello facility is one of seven plants (Moses Lake, WA; Nampa, ID; Aberdeen, ID; Caldwell, ID; Portage La Prairie, Canada; and Grand Forks, ND) within the processed potato division of the food Group division of the J. R. Simplot Company that produces food service French fries, granulated dehydrated mashed potatoes, shredded and southern style hashbrowns and specialty product. Overtime requirements in this position are common and may be required to meet operational goals. The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of the Warehouse along with having the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates. It is imperative the person conducts her/himself in a manner that ensures alertness and constant awareness of the safe operation of equipment and its surroundings. RESPONSIBILITIESResponsibilities:Responsibility 1: Must be able to complete training on the safe operation of the lift truck and successfully pass and maintain certification requirements. This training and certification are requirements in accordance with both WAC 296-24-230 and WAC 296-24-23025. Ensures adequate amount of supplies is available to packaging. Ensures proper handling of product while transporting it to packaging and cold or dry storage.Responsibility 2: Ensures that product is properly moved in or out of the freezer to the proper location. Ensures proper procedures are followed when loading trucks and rail cars. Ensures proper unloading and cataloging procedures are followed when receiving shippable and dry storage product.Responsibility 3: Ensures proper safety and inspection procedures are followed when handling bulk product. Ensures all paperwork, forms, reports, and computer data entry are completed and submitted in an accurate and timely manner. Ensures operating equipment used for shipping, receiving, and transporting product is thoroughly inspected prior to use and is operated in a safe and efficient manner including slip sheeters.Responsibility 4: Ensures attendance and participation in training activities appropriate to the position and to incorporate acquired skills and knowledge. Ensures clean-up duties are performed in a manner necessary to meet Company standards. Must be able to complete training on fall protection and must meet and maintain fall restraint requirements. This training and requirements are in accordance with WAC 296-115-245 through 24525 and WAC 296-24-75005.Responsibility 5: Ensures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies. Ensures self compliance with Company policies and procedures and Union Labor Agreement. REQUIREMENTSOther information:Education: Experience: Knowledge: Must be currently qualified as a production lift truck operator, or must have had a minimum of six months continuous service in the last three years as a cold storage or production lift truck operator. Must meet the standards on Fall Restraints as stated in WAC 296-155-24510 Fall Restraint, Fall Arrest Systems.Skills: Must be able to perform basic math skills, which include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Must be able to read and comprehend procedures, forms, etc. Must be able to write to fill out all required paperwork, including forms and lift truck inspection reports, and must be able to operate the computer keyboard. Communicate orally (i.e. communicate with teamleader, peers, warehouse superintendent, shift manager, warehouse office staff, truck drivers, and railroad personnel). Must have good spatial skills to be able to safely align aids of pallets and totes in a horizontal and vertical setting.Abilities: Ability to work in a cold environment for long periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to organize daily work.
