Livestock Handler 4
SUMMARY: This position is responsible for receiving, sorting, weighing, counting, and assisting in overall process of moving hogs from the livestock trailers to holding pens. Skid loader operation is required. Light maintenance may be performed. Responsibilities are operating in a safe, humane manner while adhering to all Tyson policies and procedures, ability to learn, good decision making. Ability to work extended hours as required. REQUIREMENTS: Education: High School Diploma or GED; college degree preferred. Experience: 1+ years of experience preferred; Individual must have general knowledge of livestock, and humane animal handling. Computer Skills: Basic computer skills are preferred. Communication Skills: Able to communicate with fellow team members ,producers,and truckers; Bilingual skills helpful. Physical REQUIREMENTS: Bending is required with this position. There is lifting association with flag, tattoo hammer, and other items used inthis position. Pushing/pulling is required to open and close gates. Reaching with the hog handling tools is required to move hogs as well as to tattoo hogs. A full hand grasp is used when holding flags, tattoo hammer, and gates. Team membersare required to stand or walk for the entire shift. Minimal force is required for most tasks, i.e. opening and closing gates. Team members may be required to wear hard hat, steel toe boots and hearing protection. The temperature of the work area is seasonal and depends on outside temperatures. Special Skills: Ability to complete Tyson paperwork, work with producers, truckers, USDA personnel, and fellow team members. The team member performing this position understands that the functions performed could affect product safety, legality and quality systems.
