Where the Chemistry Happens? Maintenance Mechanic (1901487) ? Wyandotte, MI Perform duties to install, maintain and repair equipment at the BASF Wyandotte Dispersions and Resins Manufacturing Site. The Equipment Technician III tasks include: Complex process equipment installation, maintenance troubleshooting and repairsUtilizing advanced skills in pipefitting, structural steel, pneumatic, hydraulic, rigging and millwrightWork on rotating and fixed equipment such as process machinery, tanks/pumps/agitators, furnaces, boilers and General building & grounds maintenance.Perform basic welding and fabrication;Assist other mechanics in mechanical assignments as required.Operate forklift truck and other mobile equipment as required.Must have the ability to work from complicated drawings, design specifications and/or utilizing good maintenance practices and ingenuity to solve problems.Work in coordination with multi-craft maintenance activities.Perform duties of lower grade positions as assigned.Receive and act upon Supervisor?s written and/or verbal instructions.Notify Supervisor of status of work and communicate to Supervisor deficiencies in equipment and/or repair information.Maintain and update necessary records as instructed.Use basic computer programs. Basic Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED;2 years of mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment;1 year of experience performing maintenance and repair of pumps and motors;1 year of welding experience (ARC and TIG);1 year of experience reading mechanical blueprints;1 year of experience with email management (open, read, respond); Preferred Qualifications: AS Degree in a maintenance or repair related discipline Maintenance Trade School Certificate or Diploma Must possess a valid driver?s license 5 years of mechanical maintenance experience in a chemical manufacturing environment Welding experience (MIG and GAS) Prior working experience in a chemical, refining, or manufacturing facility. Skilled in the safe and proper use of maintenance hand tools and power tools, diagnostic instruments.Possess knowledge of and skill in the basic use of shop equipment such as metal lathe and milling machine in fabrication and repair work.Ability to enter and comfortably work within confined spaces.Expected to advise or instruct coworkers and assist other mechanics as assigned.Comply with company policies, procedures and safety standards.Ability to maintain excellent housekeeping practices throughout the workplace, communicate all problems or difficulties to the supervisor, and utilize current technology as required to perform duties.
