CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Processing and Food Ingredients group. We are looking for a Maintenance Mechanic to ensure the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines. You must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, be detail oriented, and work well in a team setting.
You will:Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems and using precision measuring and testing instruments.Remove defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools.Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments. Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plump bobs and straightedges.Control downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.Fabricate repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level and placing orders when necessary.Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.Provide mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications and establishing personal networks.Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.Basic Qualifications: (required)High school degree or GED.Proof of US Citizenship.5 plus years of mechanical experience to include:Working knowledge of PLC?s and process control systems.Working knowledge of industrial hydraulics and boiler operations.Ability to use and maintain hand tools, metal working tools, and various shop tools.Previous food industry experience.Must be willing to work nights (6:00pm to 6:00am), occasional weekends, and overtime.Preferred Qualifications: (desired)Mechanical experience within a food manufacturing environment.
