We currently have a position available at our frozen potato processing facility in Othello, WA. Located in Washington's beautiful Columbia Basin, Othello is surrounded by scenic parks and wildlife. SUMMARYThis position is responsible for maintaining the mechanical operation of all Plant equipment on the Wet End area, as well as the Raw Receiving, Tank Farm and Clarifier areas.The Maintenance Mechanic is a member of a team, which includes Packaging Mechanics, Boiler/Refrigeration Mechanics, Electricians, and Process Control Technicians. This position reports primarily to the Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Team Leader, and Shift Manager on shift.The individual in this position must be able to disassemble, overhaul and reassemble all machines, including rebuilding and modifying any machine. The individual must also be able to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair mechanical problems on all equipment. In addition, the Maintenance Mechanic must be able to read mechanical blueprints, build or fabricate equipment as required, and perform preventative maintenance.The individual in this position must establish and maintain open communications and productive work relationships with Team Leaders, Operators, Attendants, Laborers, Mechanics, Supervisors, and Shift Managers.Overtime requirements in this position are common and may be required to meet operational goals.The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of the following areas: Wet End, Raw Receiving, Clarifier and Tank Farm, and is required to have the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates it. It is imperative the person(s) conduct themselves in a manner that ensures alertness and constant awareness of the safe operation of equipment and its surroundings RESPONSIBILITIESMust be able to complete training on the safe operation of the lift truck and successfully pass the certification test requirements. This training and certification are requirements in accordance with both WAC 296-24-230 and WAC 296-24-23025. Must be able to complete training on the safe operation of the aerial lift and successfully pass the certification test requirements. This training and certification are requirements in accordance with both WAC 296-24-J-3 and WAC 296-24-88030Ensures the capability of efficient operation of all equipment in the Wet End areas, including Raw Receiving, Tank Farm and Clarifier, by using preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, overhauling and repairing equipment to achieve operational goals. Ensures the accuracy of data reporting systems such as the Maintenance Daily Logs, Preventative Maintenance Forms and Work OrdersPerforms ARC, MIG, TIG welding and Acetylene cutting in a safe and correct manner when repairing and fabricating equipment. Maintains work area in a clean and functional condition. Performs assigned responsibilities during Plant evacuation or other emergency situations. Ensures attendance and participation in training activities appropriate to the position and incorporates acquired skills and knowledge. Ensures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policiesEnsures that all work related activities within the facility are accomplished through methods which promote safety to employees and which minimize potential impact to the community and environment in which we live. Ensures self-compliance with Company policies and procedures and Union Labor Agreement. Ensures the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a participative management style consistent with operational goalsConducts self in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the Company. Ensures that additional accountabilities as may be required by management be handled in a manner necessary to meet operational Divisional standardsMust be able to complete training on fall protection and must meet and maintain fall restraint requirements. REQUIREMENTSEducation: HS or equivalent; Higher education in related field preferred.Relevant work experience in mechanical field. Must have a basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems. Fabrication skills using ARC, MIG and/or TIG welding, Acetylene and Plasma ARC cutting preferred. Must be able to drive a standard or manual transmission vehicle and have a valid Washington State Driver's License. Must meet the standards on Fall Restraints as stated in WAC 296-155-24510 Fall Restraint, Fall Arrest SystemsMust be able to read, understand, and communicate in a manner to successful perform the job duties. Must be able to perform math functions (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, fractions, and identification of units of measure). Must be able to work in confined areas. Must be able to stand on concrete floors for long periods of time. Must be able to work in extreme environments: hot or cold temperatures and wet and slick floors. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to maneuver in close quarters and climb stairs and laddersMust have manual dexterity in both hands.
