CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Country Operations division with the Sunflower group. We are looking for a Maintenance Operator to maintain and repair all processing and packaging equipment while adhering to OSHA, FDA, and CHS food and facility safety principles and when assigned, assist in the daily operations of the plants. You must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to communicate with growers, truckers, suppliers, and vendors.
Efficient operation of the plants requires a comprehensive maintenance program.
Preventive and required maintenance must be completed in a timely fashion.
In the event of breakdowns, the maintenance person may be called on to stop one job and move on to another at the request of a Supervisor, Production Manager, or Plant Superintendent.
While performing maintenance, it is necessary at times to educate other employees to make sure that unnecessary breakdowns do not hinder future plant production.
You will:Insure that all processing and packaging equipment and buildings are maintained and repaired as needed.
Tasks include monitoring equipment and/or performing periodic maintenance as well as maintaining an inventory of replacement parts.Must have knowledge of maintenance procedures, repair or replacement parts, fabrication, new installations, and trouble shooting.Assist in developing the maintenance schedules and following the defined schedule.Must have experience in welding, basic electrical knowledge, a valid driver’s license, and a telephone at home.Adhere to CHS Policy when originating purchase documents, ordering, and receiving parts and supplies from vendors and contract service providers.Must recognize and correct all equipment and facility occupational and food safety deficiencies.Must observe all OSHA and CHS safety and work rules.Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety principles while performing duties.Occasionally called upon to move products by truck from storage areas to processing plants and vice versa.
Occasionally will move products to or from growers or other plants.Complete other jobs as assigned by Plant Superintendent.Must maintain shop, tool room, and parts storage areas in a clean and organized manner.Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.Basic Qualifications: (required)High School diploma3 + years mechanical/maintenance experience is requiredSkills in welding, basic electrical and mechanical knowledge are necessaryPreferred Qualifications: (desired)Technical training in mechanical or electrical fieldEmployee is encouraged to maintain any special licenses that he/she has(Commercial Driver’s License, Fumigation License, etc.)Ability to maintain and follow preventive maintenance schedulesGood leadership and communication skills and trouble shooting and problem solving skills
