POSITION SUMMARYThe Maintenance Supervisor position directs all maintenance activities required to maintain the efficient and safe operation of all equipment and grounds of the facility.
Assigns work orders, coordinates repairs, and service work to all assigned personnel as needed.
This position reports to the plant engineer and communicates issues affecting maintenance work scheduling and completion. RESPONSIBILITES Schedules individual employees to projects as needed to achieve optimum completion of work orders and to complete emergency work requests.Coordinates activities of maintenance and contractors with production departments to minimize interference with production.Maintains records, works with the maintenance planning department to requisition new and replacement parts and supplies for new projects.Supervises employees; handles employee?s grievances and complaints with established policy; makes recommendations on hires, terminations, transfers, promotions, training, discipline and other appropriate activities in accordance with established policy.Assures safety practices and procedures are followed in the department.All employees are responsible to uphold the principles of SQF 2000. REQUIREMENTS Bachelor?s degree in maintenance specialty area with 5 years previous experience in the area of facilities maintenance is preferred. In lieu of a Bachelor?s degree, requires an Associate?s Degree with 5-7 years previous experience in the area of facilities maintenance.3 years Supervisory experience, preferred.Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of one or more specialty areas (hydraulics, electrical, pneumatics, facility maintenance, building construction,) within the maintenance field is required. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule forms.Ability to communicate maintenance activities to the plant. Knowledge of meat/food processing manufacturing, preferredUnderstanding of control systems including PLC, and field instrumentation requiredUnderstanding of predictive and preventative maintenance programs requiredFamiliarity with CMMS (computerized maintenance management systems) preferred Bilingual skills in English and Spanish, a plusQUALIFICATIONS Must be able to work various shifts, including some weekends and on call shifts.Must be able to lift up to 50lbs Must be able to work in wet, damp and cold environmentsMust be able to troubleshoot and thoroughly understand PLC?s.
