In addition, Zoetis will never ask candidates to make any type of personal financial investment related to gaining employment with Zoetis.ROLE DESCRIPTION: The Manager, External Reporting assists the Director of External Reporting with the oversight and preparation of Quarterly and Annual SEC filings (Form 10-Q and Form 10-K), and other SEC filings (Form 8-K). The Manager is responsible for ensuring compliant, complete, accurate and timely filings. The Manager will research and document the appropriate treatment based on Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Manager will contribute to streamlining and improving the quality and timeliness of the financial reporting processes by partnering with various operating groups to ensure the company remains compliant with financial reporting requirements. RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Coordinate information requests and collaborate with other functional groups and key contributors to the SEC reports to obtain the necessary information needed to draft the appropriate disclosures in the 10-K and 10-Qs, including Legal, Finance, Tax, and Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A). * Create and maintain SEC calendar to inform parties of necessary deadlines and monitor the progress with internal and external parties, including auditors, to complete timely SEC filings. * Review and prepare supporting documentation and analyses to support the financial statements, footnotes and Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A) disclosures, including tie-out support binders. * Prepare GAAP disclosure checklists to ensure compliance with accounting and SEC guidelines and completeness of financial statements. * Manage internal and external review of SEC filings. * Participate in communications with external auditors on external financial statements and accounting issues to ensure auditor agreement with company decisions on accounting disclosures, and issues. * Assist with the coordination of the quarterly review procedures and the year-end audit process with external auditors. * Review quarterly consolidated balance sheet fluctuation analysis and the statement of cash flows. * Manage the detailed Xtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) tagging process of financial statements and footnotes. * Prepare quarterly earnings release tables and assist in preparation and review of other internally and externally communicated financial information. * Participate in quarterly financial results meetings with senior finance colleagues. * Assist in the preparation of presentations for the Audit Committee and senior management, including the CFO, on various financial topics. * Independently research potential impact of new accounting and SEC standards on financial statements and disclosures to ensure compliance with GAAP and SEC reporting requirements. * Monitor proposed and enacted accounting pronouncements that affect the Company and make recommendations on implementing changes/compliance. * Responsible for maintaining strong internal controls around the external reporting process to ensure compliance with internal audit and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) requirements. * Assist with the preparation, analysis and submission of ad-hoc requests, reports and surveys. * Perform ad-hoc research as needed. * Assist the Director of External Reporting to continuously improve the effectiveness of the external reporting function. * Maintain accounting and financial reporting knowledge through external sources such as seminars, training courses and literature. QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor”s degree in accounting or Finance required. * CPA/MBA strongly desired. * Five to seven years of diversified experience in a financial reporting capacity. * Strong, current understanding of US GAAP accounting and knowledge of SEC rules and regulations. * Experience with Workiva preferred. * Experience with XBRL required. * Proficient with MS Office, SEC reporting applications, and accounting research applications. * Experience working with external auditors on the completion of the quarterly review and annual audit process. * Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment and flexibility to work hours needed to meet deadlines. * Able to manage multiple priorities and work in a cross-functional environment. * Ability to think ahead and plan within timelines and resources; set priorities and goals; anticipate and adjust for problems; evaluate workloads. * Team-oriented and able to influence resources without direct reporting relationships. * Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills. * Ability to work independently to research and analyze accounting issues. * Strong attention to detail and organizational skills is critical. * Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally with other employees at all levels of the company. * Self-motivated, proactive, quick learner with a desire to improve processes and drive the Controllership towards increasing efficiencies. * Aligned with Zoetis vision, mission and core beliefs.
