You will ensure that BASF meets its Federal income tax legal obligations in a timely and accurate manner while minimizing the Federal income tax liability within the limits of the law. The position requires interacting with and/or coordinating the efforts of several tax professionals, involving numerous work streams using a broad skillset to identify issues and planning opportunities while leveraging internal resources to preserve and enhance value. You will be involved with many facets of the income taxes and act as a key partner with colleagues in the Finance and Accounting organizations in North America and Germany as well as the BASF Global and North American International and Research Tax Planning Groups. In this role, you will be relied upon to make independent decisions or recommendations to the Director of Federal Taxes, taking into consideration the benefits and risks of possible options and understanding how and when to engage the appropriate stakeholders.Formula for Success Leveraging your education in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline and extensive Federal Income Tax work experience in a public accounting firm (significant big 4 accounting experience preferred) and/or work experience in a large corporate tax department, you will ensure that BASF meets its Federal income tax legal obligations in a timely and accurate manner while minimizing the Federal income tax liability within the limits of the law.Your proven mastery of accounting for income taxes (income tax provisions) and consolidated returns will be instrumental to your success in this role.Utilizing your valued transactional work, you will translate your knowledge into favorable purchase price accounting and allocations, ownership change studies under section 382, transaction due diligence, etc.Your prior experience completing IRS audit requests and participation in resolving issues with the IRS for a large organization will be a valued asset and make a strong business impact.Successfully engaging within the organization, you will collaborate with other functions, operating divisions, global colleagues and 3rd party consultants.Demonstrating your excellent networking, communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills, you will provide clear foresight of issues and proactive development of strategy recommendations. Your highly valued tax research skills, delivery of written memoranda, and tax controversy work (on both the exam and appeals level) will prove to be highly beneficial to the business.Capitalizing on your broad exposure to tax challenges that face large multinational manufacturing organizations, you will implement successful transfer pricing and reporting of foreign payments, foreign tax credit planning, methods of accounting for fixed assets, inventory, reserves, and more.Create Your Own Chemistry: What We Offer YouAdding value to our customers begins with adding value to you.
