We are seeking an experienced, innovative and highly motivated professional to contribute towards the discovery and development of novel cattle vaccines. The team partners with colleagues from various therapeutic areas to understand the impact of existing and emerging infectious diseases on animal production and the host-pathogen interactions that then occur in order to investigate develop and register innovative biologicals for the prevention of those diseases in cattle in regions that need them. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: * Suitable candidates will have a DVM and MSc or PhD in related fields and a minimum of 7 additional years of research experience either in industry or academia. They must also be a creative/independent thinker with a deep understanding of bovine bacterial, viral and parasitic pathogens and with a proven track record of research in any of those areas. Additional academic training in an allied field (infectious diseases, immunology, epidemiology, veterinary medicine) would be desirable. * Demonstrated success in managing medium size R&D groups directly and building collaborative teams with partner groups involved in vaccine development and licensure. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: * The successful applicant will possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills, and is expected to lead and/or participate in multidisciplinary research teams that include scientists in analytical process and clinical sciences, and serve as a key liaison with other key partners in manufacturing, marketing and sales. * Contribute to the development and support of new target animal disease models and efficacy and safety studies. * Collaborate across multiple scientific disciplines. * Initiate required legal and financial documents for research activities * Contribute to development of product profiles with commercial colleagues. * Work in collaborative research environment, including internal partner groups, contract research organizations and external academic collaborations.
