Essential Functions The Managing Attorney will be responsible for the day to day management of a team of attorneys and support staff, thus they must possess extensive leadership experience. Their daily responsibilities include but not limited to case assignment, hiring, supervision and professional development of the staff, driving production and timeline performance while ensuring the staff performance is in compliance to legal, regulatory and client requirements. Management of attorneys and staff within the managers’ department or office Represent the firm at Bar and Community events Facilitate creation of new areas of law and new opportunities for firm growth Assist with the hiring of attorneys and paralegals/legal assistance Develop and implement clearly defined department goals and procedures Develop clearly defined job responsibilities for each position within the litigation or non-contested department Develop and implement standardized evaluation of productivity for attorneys and paralegals/legal assistants In collaboration with Human Resources, complete and perform annual performance appraisals for direct reports Implement clearly defined timelines for Plaintiff’s Responses Minimize portfolio aging within the Non-Contested or Contested portfolio by implementing a process to ensure client and internal timelines are achieved, where controllable Development of improved processes needed for efficient management of files and reduction of mistakes throughout the office Orientation and mentoring and training of new attorneys and support staff Development of training materials and regular educational classes for attorneys, paralegals and staff Ensure all policies and procedure manuals are updated consistently as processes changed and maintained in the firm’s procedure archive Coordination with Human Resources, Quality Assurance, and Compliance directors to be certain all ethical, statutory and regulatory related requirements are completed and documented Coordination other department managers/supervisors in an effort to maximize operating efficiency, timeline performance and legal knowledge Conducting routine Attorney/staff meetings to review workplace developments—including additions to personnel and changes of policy—and to answer questions and address concerns Identification and resolution of existing and evolving internal procedural issues Maintain a caseload of foreclosure files necessary to keep apprised of developments in the courtroom and evolving strategies of opposing counsel Personally handle highly contested cases, cases in which the firm is named as a party, and cases where a client is named as a party Report to the Partners on case progression Monitor attorney billing and attorney billing incentive program Review monthly contested billing by attorneys within the department and coordinate with the finance team regarding same Create and implement an attorney audit program to assure that COSP Law attorneys are properly trained, following firm procedures, meeting productivity goals, producing timely and accurate work product, producing timely, accurate and informative reporting, appearing for appointments timely and properly prepared, evaluate in court skills, evaluate judicial, client and borrower interpersonal skills, and other areas of importance in representing both the firm and firm clients
