Manufacturing Engineer

AGCO-Amity JV, LLC is accepting applications for a results-driven Manufacturing Engineer to join our team.  Reporting to the General Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer is an integral part of the leadership team. Job SummaryThe Manufacturing Engineer will play a key part in conducting manufacturing engineering assignments in conformity with sound engineering principles, policies, and controls to develop new methods, processes, and product designs to resolve quality, cost and safety issues in manufacturing. Additionally, the Manufacturing Engineer will focus on working with Design Engineers on New Product Introduction (NPI) processes to optimize cost, quality, and manufacturing time of new products. Job Responsibilities Lead projects to improve worker productivity and production output, quality and safety by improving manufacturing capabilities, including methods, processes, machine designs, tooling and fixtures, equipment, new manufacturing technology and performance measurement systems.Analyze engineering designs, manufacturing processes and machine utilization, material routing and handling methods, tool design and application, etc. to seek improvement and effect changes to reduce cost and increase output.Act as project leader/liaison and coordinate activities with manufacturing production departments and design engineering departments.Be “voice of manufacturing” on product development teams, conducting print and design reviews with focus on improving the manufacturability of designs and determining optimum manufacturing methods.Develop/write manufacturing processes/procedures/work instructions and routings and communicate to all affected personnel on the shop floor as well as train operators on the product and safe implementation of process changes with focus on incident prevention.Improve workflow throughout the plant, including time and motion analysis, methods, process engineering and plant layout to ensure balanced methods and optimized flow.Design load/shipping configurations, packaging, skids, etc. utilizing CAD programs.Maintain a high level of knowledge about manufacturing processes, methods, equipment and tooling.Initiate, support, and implement improvement ideas to improve productivity and reduce costs to achieve annual goals.Lead and participate in kaizen events for continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.Provide timely response and resolution to safety, quality, and production issues.Facilitate process improvement teams and continuous improvement efforts.Work in conjunction with the facility's management to complete risk and safety assessments.Other duties as assigned. Essential skills/QUALIFICATIONSEducationA 4-year degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering and/or five years engineering experience in heavy manufacturing environment is required. Qualifications and ExperienceMust be proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.Technical competency in steel fabrication, welding, machining, or paint finishing and thorough knowledge of manufacturing and quality processes is also required. 3-D CAD knowledge required, Creo and Windchill are preferred.Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical manuals and procedures, drawings, fabrication documentation and lengthy correspondence. Communicate in an effective, professional manner to facilitate teamwork, both orally and in writing.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently and to organize and prioritize tasks to meet required deadlines.Team player with the ability to provide leadership for change and improvement.Ability to create buy-in and drive cultural changes with all levels of the organization.Excellent analytical/problem solving, time management, and project management skills. Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position has no direct reports however is responsible for leading manufacturing improvements and methodologies in plant with approximately 100 hourly and salaried employees. Work EnvironmentThis position is based in Wahpeton, ND and generally operates in a manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The employee is also exposed to a variety of extreme conditions in the work environment. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Physical DemandsThe physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands or arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
