Manufacturing Laboratory Technician

The DuPont El Paso quality control laboratory provides 24/5 quality data to the operations at the site. Lab Technicians perform physical properties tests as well as analytical tests using HPLC and HPLC-MS. Job opening is for night shift (11:30pm ??? 8:00am) and afternoon shift (3:30pm ??? 12:00am). Candidates must be willing to work any shift, and occasional weekends and overtime. RESPONSIBILITIES:Uphold company and site policies and Core Values ??? safety, health and environment, respectful treatment of people, ethicsPerform all tasks in a safe manner including handling of highly toxic/corrosive materials in small quantities.Run and interpret physical and analytical tests for all products.Run & maintain HPLC & HPLC-MS instrumentationOrganize and keep a clean work spacePerform preventative maintenance and repair instruments when necessary.Enter data into the LIMS electronic records retention database and release product in SAP production management system.Perform all job tasks that support running the test methods. (Cleaning glassware, making solutions, using excel spreadsheets, etc.)Participate and lead team and safety meetings.Maintain a high level of communication with the lab team and plant through e-mail, face to face interface, visual boards, etc.Assist in the training of new lab technicians.Write or modify procedures and forms as appropriate.Assist in setting up new equipment and test methods.Attend outside classes to keep up skills/training.Perform calibrations and control charting according to ISO Standards.Assist in development of trace testing methods.Acquire new skills as new analytical test equipment is obtained.Inventory and order supplies. BS degree in Chemistry.Computer literate and familiar with basic computer programs (i.e. Microsoft Excel – formulas, email systems, Microsoft Word).Demonstrated high personal motivation and ability to work independently and as a team.Be customer service focused while meeting multiple turnaround requirements.Demonstrated ability to balance multiple, complex tasks with a high level of accuracy.Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot equipment issues, independently or through a team process.Demonstrated willingness to learn new tasks, take on challenges and seek information from others.Ability to train other technicians in analytical technique.Strong oral and written communication skills to interact with peers and production personnel.Strong mathematical skills including algebra.Accurate documentation to support analytical and physical tests for release of product.Ability to dump, move, lift and carry containers weighing up to 50 pounds.Demonstrated ability to work while wearing personal protective equipment. Performance and Certification Criteria A lab technician should be able to perform and certify on all routine lab methods within 3 months after entering the lab. More advance maintenance, troubleshooting, and analytical skills must be acquired within the first year of work in the laboratory area.Apply for this job.
