It will support the development, optimization and implementation of the concepts, design, documentation, build, set up, testing / checking, and final release required for these complex electrical and mechanical bio devices. Create quality control plans for internal manufacturing and for Contract Manufacturers so that expectations are clear and ensure they are followed. Knowledge of best practices to assist in aligning existing processes to support business growth. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures for the above.These activities will be performed while adhering to pre-established guidelines and engineering specifications.
Responsible for the development and creation of various manufacturing test systems including electrical hardware, test system software and fixtures needed for subassembly and final product manufacturing testing. Also required to create thorough documentation of test systems such as schematics, drawings, diagrams, work instructions, etc. for ease of knowledge transfer both within and outside the organization.
Capable of executing projects unsupervised, having received minimum direction, as well as having the ability to contribute to the goals of the company as part of a team. Requires reading, math, weighing and/or measuring, conducting research, analyzing, troubleshooting and drawing conclusions, developing and implementing plans, procedures and solutions. Thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic components, soldering equipment, hand tools, and electronic measurement devices, including but not limited to, oscilloscopes and multi-meters. Thorough knowledge of mechanical components, hand tools, and mechanical measurement equipment such as height gages and calipers. Ability to record data with indisputable accuracy along with compiling and analyzing data and results. Capable of documenting procedures, conditions, measurements, and conclusions in a standardized format that is professional in appearance and useful to the reader.
Create the concept, potentially design & build (or outsource) troubleshoot, fix or repair test stations consisting of electrical, mechanical and code or coordinate the activity with external resources. Document and perform test system failure analysis through root cause determination. Demonstrated proficiency in problem solving techniques and ability to troubleshoot manufacturing equipment problems.
Six Sigma knowledge preferred. Proficiency in CAD or comparable software and drafting principles required to interpret engineering drawings and to document Test System design. Support of manufacturing systems located both internal and external. Familiar with standard / best practice: concepts, practices, and procedures for the above.
Communicate effectively with supervisor and other team members. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE * Bachelor”s Degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical Engineering or related degree with basic mechanical skills to design enclosures, fixtures and jigs for the manufacturing floor.* Minimum of 5-7 yrs. experience in equipment creation, repair and maintenance in an engineering, test or manufacturing environment. * Demonstrated experience in critical thinking and problem solving skills, planning and organizing, decision-making, multi-tasking, work prioritization, communication skills, influencing and leading, team work, negotiation, and conflict management.* Good communication, both written and oral; ability to read and write effectively. TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS* Does well in a Change Management environment, Acts as a Change Agent* Demonstrated experience in applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other metrics and management systems. Verifiable or documented certification levels are a plus.* Process oriented mindset; data and continuous improvement orientation* Able to work well in complex environment* Skills in CAD and basic drafting principles required. * Familiarity with Microsoft Office products and an advanced knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft operating system.* Proficient in MRP/ERP (SAP, JD Edwards, etc.) and Financial Systems (SAP, JD Edwards, etc.) PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS * Position located in Durham* Minimal off-site travel* Occasional non-core hour work anticipated
