Manufacturing Technology Clean Label Senior Process Development Engineer
Overview: The DuPont Nutrition and Health Manufacturing Technology organization supports the business by working with integrated operations to deliver continuous improvement in process safety, process technology, and productivity; and by working with R&D to commercialize new products and technologies. The team drives process technology excellence and ensures a strong technical foundation to enable:Safe and reliable manufacture of products that meet our performance requirementsInnovation and quick, accurate response to business and customer needsEffective execution of capital projects, product scale-ups, and process changesContinuous improvement in process safety, product quality, and capacity Responsibilities: As a Clean Label Process Development Engineer, you will report to a Manufacturing Technology Process Development Leader who supports multiple technologies and processes within the Nutrition and Health business. You will be directly responsible for development of new systems and texturants processes that involve minimal processing of natural raw material. You will drive scale-up activities and help transfer product from R&D to full scale manufacturing. Key responsibilities are to:Own and support process safety initiatives within your pilot plants and labsOwn process development for a new line of clean label systems and texturants products and support the transition from lab scale to pilot scale, to production scaleIdentify, evaluate, and select unit operations to maximize product performance and production efficiencyCoordinate and execute lab and pilot scale work associated with clean label process developmentDevelop and document process technology information – establish critical operating limits; establish product and raw material specification ranges; and develop/understand connections between operational parameters, physical properties, and applications performanceEnsure processes are developed to deliver maximum business and customer value This position requires significant international travel (25%) or temporary living arrangements. Identify, evaluate, and select unit operations that meet process and clean label requirements.Operate or direction operation of lab and pilot plant equipment. Design and execute pilot trials to select processes that maximize product performance and operational efficiency. Work with consultants and vendors as needed.Develop operating cost estimates and CapEx cost estimates to support business case development5. Develop and document process technology information. Establish critical operating limits; establish product and raw material specification ranges; and develop/understand connections between operational parameters, physical properties, and applications performanceTransfer new processes from R&D into manufacturingEnsure new processes are safe, reliable, efficient, and meet both customer and business needsProvide overall project management, tracking, & reporting for process development.Create detailed project timelines. Identify milestones and interdependencies.Manage projects to successful resolution.Deliver results and bring projects in safely, on-time, and on-budget.Communicate clearly and inform stakeholders of delays and barriers in a timely manner to allow for appropriate action.Work across the organization to deliver results and business valueStay informed of big picture initiatives and provide input and implementation support for defined area.Develop and maintain strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders (e.g. R&D, corporate engineering and technology, manufacturing sites, MT Organization, SHE, consultants, and vendors).Remain current on industry best practices, technology improvements, and available resources to ensure fully leveraging knowledge that exists outside of DuPont. Qualifications: Required Education: BS in Chemical Engineering; Master level qualification a plus Qualifications: A minimum of 8 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment and process development.Strong safety leadership and experience with process safety management.Significant experience with process R&D / process development and finding creative solutions to introduce new processes.Technology knowledge of MCC, Carrageenan, Alginates, and other hydrocolloidsCompetence in engineering fundamentals. Ability to interpret and apply broad basis principles, theories and concepts.Ability to work cross functionally with R&D, Applications, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Analytical, and Commercial teamsStrong problem solving, prioritization, and risk based management skills.Data based decision making and strong results driven/action orientated approach to projects.A demonstrated history of delivering results bringing projects in safely, on time and on budget. The ability to effectively present at both informal and formal training settings.International experience and bi-lingual capabilities a plus.Apply for this job.
