Marine Dispatcher, Convent, LA

We are currently seeking a Dispatcher for our Convent, LA team. Dispatcher will be required to manage our fleet towboats and keep track of barges in and out of the fleet. Will perform varied clerical and administrative functions to support shipyard, dock, grain elevator and fleet operations of the Marine Division operating in Convent, LA. Position will offer on the job training with a work schedule of day, night and weekend (rotating shift) work; this requires the candidate to be capable of working the schedule as dictated by the job. Schedule will require overtime and holiday work as needed. Minimum requirements:
High School education or equivalent *
Must be willing to pass a pre-employment drug screen *
Basic office experience as it relates to communication, typing, filing and computer knowledge. The practical use of Word and Excel with a keyboard ability of 35 wpm is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage fleet horsepower (towboats) *
Maintain adequate communication with customers, vendors, gov't agencies, and others as required *
Keep track of barges in and out of fleet *
Keep complete and accurate documentation of all activities *
Ensure customer satisfaction *
Make key decisions to maximize efficiency/profitability for the Shipyard & Fleet *
Answer office telephone and distribute information as needed. *
Assist with other office duties as needed *
Marine and/or dispatch experience a plus.
