Job Description:Develop, lead and implement strategic sales and marketing plans and customer service programs, which will enhance the company?s agronomy business unit profitability and market share.Responsible for maintaining and expanding relationships with 30 ? 40 strategic customers and prospective customers while maintaining net margins set forth by VP of Agronomy. Accountable for achieving an annual revenue objective of $8 – $12 million with these accounts.?Responsible for the continued development of the field sales agronomy team in the area of agricultural expertise in the identification, introduction, development of the skill sets necessary for continued growth in seed, crop nutrient, crop protection, and precision Ag business.?Collaborate with peer Field Sales agronomists and Agronomy management team to establish aggressive sales growth quotas that support the strategic initiatives within specified accounts in the market.?Communicate with customers and employees in a manner that will create support and loyalty for the company.?Major Areas of Accountability:Engage in direct sales activities including prospecting, identifying opportunities, cold calling, in- person sales calls, contract negotiation, closing, which ultimately increase company revenue. 70% of MFSA?s time should be allocated to customer facing activities. ?Efficiently and accurately communicate environmentally and economically sound agronomic recommendations to? customers.Work with Agronomy management team to identify core agronomic skill competencies that are necessary for successful field sales agronomists and recommend to the Agronomy sales manager effective educational and development sessions that will bridge gaps between actual and desired competencies.Establish, manage and maintain rigorous agronomic research trials that support key agronomic growth objectives. ?Mentor agronomy interns to identify agronomic prowess to ascertain if? the company should pursue interns as a potential full time employee. ?Regularly maintain and document sales activity through FOCUS CRM database. ?Enforces company safety program. ?Resolves customer complaints quickly and fairly in accordance with company policies. Refers unusual situations to Agronomy Sales manager.?Suggests topics and provide information for publications, web page, social media and letters.Recommend qualified and competent people to management for addition to staff as necessary.Attend appropriate training sessions as part of programs of continuing education. ?Other duties as assigned.Qualifications: Education:Bachelor?s degree in Agronomy, Agri-Business or Ag-related areaMaster?s degree in Agronomy preferred ?Certified Crop Advisor certification (or ability to obtain) ?5+ years of agronomy sales and/or management experience preferred ?Experience may be substituted for education?Experience: ?Previous agronomy sales experience desirable ?Previous supervisory experience desirableGood people skills necessary ?Strong written and verbal skills necessary?Computer skills desirable ?Ag background a plus
