Tarrytown, NY or Wyandotte, MI (This role can be based in eitherlocation) Where the Chemistry HappensWe aresearching for a professional like you to play a key role in the execution ofdata solutions to accomplish project objectives. Together with other dataarchitects, you design, realize, and populate IT architectures optimally suitedfor capturing, storing, integrating, and provisioning of primary lab datagenerated in our R&D organization. Through intelligent data solutions, youenable researchers to access huge amounts of data swiftly. Your contributionallows for faster and more data driven decisions and shall help increasingefficiency of our R&D efforts. You will closely cooperate with R&D,engineering, central functions and business units. Successfully engaging acrossthe organization, you will interact frequently with colleagues who arespecialists at non-digital research disciplines. Moreover, through academicresearch groups in that domain while evaluating new approaches and exploringnew application opportunities, we ensure staying at the forefront ofinnovation. You will be relied on toprovide knowledge and expertise in data management, data connectivity andvisualization. Formula for Success Leveraging your advanced academic
background in Natural Science or closely related discipline (Materials
Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Cheminformatics, Bioinformatics)
combined with experience in Data Science (Solutions & Architecture),
you will contribute to a research direction that provides innovation and
breakthrough advantages for the business by delivering tailored data
solutions. Your strong communication skills
help bridge the gap between IT and real-world applications. You will
engage directly with chemical and biological labs, analyze existing lab
processes and develop a common understanding of the best data management
solutions. Relying on your strong programming
skills (preferably in Python, R and/or Java), you will contribute to the
development of applications that make data architectures accessible to
both lab technicians and business partners. Your familiarity with different
data base architectures, both relational and NoSQL (e.g. graph databases,
document stores, etc.), will be critical as you explore technical
possibilities and create ideas together with internal business partners. Your experience processing big data
(e.g. Hadoop) will enable you to manipulate BASF?s vast R&D data feed You will engage with academia and
service providers and thereby actively integrate state-of-the-art methods
into the corporate toolset Using your experience in web
