Materials Science/Metallurgical Engineer Co-op (St. Louis) – #01RYE
We are seeking a motivated Materials Science/Metallurgical Engineer Co-Op. This position is in St. Louis, MO, reporting to our Mechanical Group Lead. As a Materials Science/Metallurgical Engineering Co-op, you will support our Corporate Materials Engineer in materials testing and identification, failure analysis and mechanical integrity. The role will primarily focus on supporting efforts to identify appropriate materials of construction for new chemical manufacturing processes. This includes assisting with literature searches on existing material applications, setting up corrosion coupons and analyzing results in the lab, and making materials of construction recommendations based on testing results and available economic data. Materials tested include metallics, thermoplastics and elastomers, with particular emphasis on ferrous materials and nickel alloys. Conducting failure analysis in the lab is another key part of this role, along with helping to develop Mechanical Integrity programs for existing manufacturing processes.
