Materials Science/Metallurgical/Chemical Engineering Co-op – #01SUV
As a Materials Science/Metallurgical/Chemical Engineering Co-op at Monsanto Headquarters, you will support our Senior Corrosion Technologist in materials testing, identification, and failure analysis. The role will primarily focus on supporting efforts to identify appropriate materials of construction for new chemical manufacturing processes. This includes assisting with literature searches on existing material applications, setting up corrosion coupons and analyzing results in the lab, and making materials of construction recommendations based on testing results and available economic data. Materials tested include metallics, ceramics, thermoplastics and elastomers, with emphasis on ferrous materials and nickel alloys. Conducting failure analysis in the lab is another key part of this role, along with helping to provide input for materials selection for existing manufacturing processes.
