DuPont Nutrition & Health is seeking Mechanics to join our team in Thomson, IL. In this role, you will provide support to the achievement of plant objectives by ensuring that equipment in various manufacturing and packaging areas operate properly and are maintained by adjusting or replacing parts as necessary to facilitate the repair and/or changeover of equipment to manufacture or package various products. You will also maintain manufacturing and/or packaging equipment at required operating levels, through the performance of preventative/predictive maintenance and major overhauls in order to meet departmental production standards on equipment. Job specifics include: Interprets blue prints, sketches and verbal instructions. Sets up and operates power pipe cutting and threading machines. Uses pipe bender and portable power and hand tools. Operates mill, lathe, press and other plant equipment. Lays out, fabricates and installs new lines and alters existing lines. Welds. Completes daily sampling and logs for well water, potable water, air compressors, cooling tower water and steam. Installs and maintains hydraulic equipment. Works with vendors and consultants on troubleshooting, training or optimization of the mechanical system. Selects material of construction suited for job requirements. Diagnoses problems and makes necessary repairs or installations. Responsible for the proper disposal of all waste materials. Responsible for monitoring work procedures of co-workers and their adherence to safety practices. Qualifications:The following are required:High School Diploma/GED equivalent MUST HAVE five (5) years or more of industrial mechanical/maintenance experience.Must be able to read and work with equipment blueprints. Must have specific mechanical experience on processing equipment. Completion of a four year apprenticeship program is preferred. Trade school, technical institute or equivalent training/education is preferred. Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skills. Working knowledge of pumps, conveyors, pipe fitting, welding, and motor controlled circuits is required. Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, work at heights and lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis. Must be willing and able to wear personal protective gear including a chemical suit and respirator. Must be willing to work with hazardous chemicals. Must be able to work rotating weekends.Apply for this job.
