Mechanical Maintenance Engineer – #01DBL
Job Summary: Provides mechanical engineering support for plant wide manufacturing areas including technical support to troubleshoot and solve problems impacting equipment reliability, environmental compliance, and safety. Scope / Specific Responsibilities of the Position: Responds to failure of equipment and/or a process to restore back into normal operating condition.Acquires failure data and prepares maintenance plans for restoring equipment to operating condition in a minimum amount of time; balancing repair cost and minimizing future failures.Develop scopes defining improvement projects, including alternatives and cost-benefit analysis as needed.Troubleshoots mechanical maintenance issues and completes appropriate documentation. Eliminates bad actors and increases MTBR (mean time between repair)Focuses on root cause failure analysis to eliminate future failures.Mentors technicians, validators, planners, and other engineers as needed.Contact vendors, other Monsanto sites, and supports organizations to obtain information for specification and maintenance of mechanical equipment and associated spare parts.Follows up on relevant recommendations from audits. Assists other area engineers (production, process, electrical, project) and technicians as needed in reference to mechanical engineering issues.Contributes to overall best practice implementation and value added cost control for overall maintenance and process operations.Presents ideas and concepts clearly with appropriate documentation, email correspondence and presentations gaining support for change.Complies with plant safety rules and actively works to improve safety through coaching or engineered improvements.Supports plant-wide development and improvement through participation on plant-wide initiatives and committees. (Area Safety Teams, Audits, Incident Investigations, and owner of Plant-wide specifications and procedures.Maintains area equipment documentation and validate data accuracy. Qualifications:Education:B.S. in Mechanical or B.S. in Engineering with experience in Mechanical Engineering preferred.Experience:One to three years technical experience in a manufacturing facility is required, including time as an intern, co-op or engineer. Competencies/Skills:The position requires strong written and oral communication skills, strong problem-solving skills, strong personal initiative, strong knowledge of general engineering skills, the ability to work well in a team environment, and the ability to work well in a culture that values diversity in a self directed team environment. Ideal Candidate Will Also Possess: Manufacturing experience, particularly with vessels, pumps, piping, heat exchangers and rotary equipment.Familiarity with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) procedures and requirements.Civil engineering knowledge of concrete and structural analysis.Description of Specific Work Conditions and Physical Requirements: Position is in a manufacturing environment, which requires frequent walking and standing, with the ability to ascend and descend stairs on a periodic basis. It also requires the ability to work with computers and be able to access all areas of the plant to monitor maintenance & project execution. Use of a Full Face Respirator / Self Contained Breathing Apparatus, and Level-A Suit required for work with Highly Hazardous Materials, if applicable. The ability to work with or around moving equipment or machinery on a frequent basis is also required. Limited amounts of travel may be required to visit vendors, headquarters, other sites, or development courses. This position requires the ability to work during core business hours, 6:00am to 5:30 pm Monday ??? Friday.
