CHS has an exciting opportunity. We are looking for a Merchandiser to work extensively with producers and vendors in procurement of grain, the merchandising of ingredients, and setting up marketing programs. You must be able to make decisions, solve problems and work independently, be detail oriented with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and be a team player. Procure and sell commodities/ingredients using available market data, market knowledge and expertise to attain the most cost effective and profitable results.Develop and maintain positive customer relationships with producers and potential customers, updating them on market trends, current grain quotes, grain programs, and farm marketing plans.Expand merchandising potential to accommodate opportunities with emphasis on increasing market share with existing and new customers. Work closely with Grain Marketing personnel to exchange information, and keep informed of business conditions and competition in the region. Communicate bid changes and closing bids to customers.Maintain a sound understanding of rail and truck transportation for commodity shipment. Keep abreast of transportation rates and make the most effective decisions involving procurement and logistics.Assist with contracts (overfills and under fills) and settlements, related billing and reporting as needed.Perform daily hedging activities (to include daily and monthly reporting of positions)Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with other operating departments within the company to assure proper communication among all involved. Provide excellent customer service to all patrons in a courteous and professional manner.Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Basic Qualifications:
Four-year Agriculture or Business degree. Three to five years? experience in grain industry Knowledge in all traded commoditiesAbility to work extended hours during peak seasons.Proficient in MS Office (Excel, word, Outlook, Power Point) Must pass pre-employment drug screen Be a team player
Preferred Qualifications: Previous Grain Procurement and ingredient merchandising experience Series III license, required to attain Series III license within the first 12 months of employment.
