MAIN FUNCTION: Reporting to the General Manager, this is an intermediate merchandiser position within the North American Cottonseed Processing group.
This position will be accountable for the procurement of raw materials and the marketing of finished products to achieve optimum financial results. The position will aid in developing strategies that match with our corporate objectives and executing these strategies utilizing corporate and staff resources as deemed necessary.
The position is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with accounts, including the handling of logistics, accounting, and other customer related issues.
As a valued member of the merchandising team, this position requires a higher level of strategic thinking, market knowledge and employee development than an entry-level position. Actively participates in all aspects of marketing primarily within regional truck, rail vendors, and customers? Is able to prepare & analyze basic profit & loss and other divisional month end reports? Assist in project planning and AFE process as necessary for the region? Seeks out new business that would profitably enhance ADM company assets? Maintains a clear customer account list? Handles all accounting related issues in a timely manner to ensure good customer service? Attends internal training sessions to learn basic management skills & systems? Develops a clear understanding of local, national, & world markets & trends? Price discovery and bid/offer maintenance to enhance risk management and pricing? Develops a good working knowledge of freight spreads and competitor activities? Develops a clear understanding and working knowledge of ADM information technology systems? Understands and has strict adherence to corporate compliance policies & safety systems & programs? Ensures that individual goals are aligned with company goals-Develops key communication links within ADM to ensure optimal use of ADM Facilities and market access, an understanding and awareness of market requirements and facilitate the effectiveness of ADM Assets Develops good understanding of local plant operations? Works to attain positive, cooperative relationships with internal colleagues across divisions & responsibilities? Portrays a positive image of the company and self when interacting with customers & colleagues? Prepares and submits daily & ad hoc reports for both location and region as necessary? Helps in the development & training of new employees KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: ? University degree in agriculture or business (i.e. economics, finance, accounting), supplemented with a minimum of three (3) years? experience in the marketing of commodities and related food, feed, and/or fuel products.
