Microbial and Biological Discovery Intern – #01SRE
The Ag Productivity and Innovation Organization is seeking a talented summer intern to join the pest and pathogen control team. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work in a pest and pathogen control laboratory under the direction of senior scientists. The project will involve the characterization of microbial strains and their products. The techniques will include cultivation of microbes, evaluation against plant pathogenic organisms in vitro and in controlled environment assays, and may involve genomic analyses and analytical chemistry. At the conclusion of the assignment, you will provide a summary report and oral presentation to peers and team leads. Dates for this summer internship are May-August of 2019. Qualifications:Required:Current enrollment in a B.S. program at a university in the U.S., majoring in Biology, Microbiology, or Chemistry.Must have completed at least sophomore year of college prior to the start date of the position (May 2019).Must be returning to school to continue program of study upon completion of summer internship.Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above on 4.0 scale.Experience in microbial propagation, media preparation and molecular biologyPreferred: Experience in evaluation of fungal, viral, or insect pathogens of plantsCandidates should be interested in a career in industrial microbiology, biology, or chemistry or graduate school after completion of B.S. degree.Apply for this job.
