Microbiologist 1 / Research Associate
DuPont Industrial Biosciences Global Microbiology Group is seeking an individual that wants to impact the future growth of the organization with global impact ranging from R&D project support to the commercialization of products with Plant and Customer support. Our Group is involved in the microbiological processes, troubleshooting, characterization, and support of all new product commercializations and microbiological methodology/tools/technology used across the Industrial Biosciences Manufacturing Plants. This individual should be highly motivated, energetic, innovative and ready to work with a fast-paced, diverse and dynamic group on a complex scope of assignments. Some of the responsibilities include:
Carries out a complex scope of inter-disciplined assignments and has key expertise in the area of microbiological techniques/methodologies, including: development, validation, optimization, implementation, and crossover; tactical problem solving; and implementation of new technologies
Serves as a project leader and key technical contributor on microbiology work supporting our various customers.
Initiates, creates, leads, and drives microbiology project plans and maintains established microbiology programs.
Applies project management skills in identifying, prioritizing, coordinating, and accomplishing a broad and/or complex scope of project objectives. Takes the lead in working with internal and external customers.
Serves as a key consultant and analytical problem solver within the Global Microbiology Group and the company overall.
Conducts internal and external training and assessments – including on-site visits.
Must have the ability to identify, evaluate, develop and implement other methods and technologies as the need arises.
Works with Global Microbiology Management and team to align resources for the Group's portfolio of projects.
Serves as a resident expert in one or more technologies and/or functions.
Exhibits a high level of leadership, initiative, creative thinking, teamwork, and communication.
Proactively contributes ideas and leads efforts which successfully impact the Group's vision, mission, and operations.
Represents the company on industrial consortiums and trade associations.
Establishes and manages relationships and programs with contract, governmental or academic labs.
Periodic travel will be required. (up to 25%) Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelors/Masters degree in a scientific discipline (Microbiology, Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, etc.) or equivalent with a minimum of 8 years overall experience in an industrial lab setting. At least 2 of the 8 years experience is highly preferred.
