ResearchTriangle Park, NCWherethe Chemistry HappensWe are seeking aprofessional like you to support global seed treatment research and developmentby conducting seed treatment microbiology efficacy and seed stabilitydevelopment efforts focusing on rhizobia and bacillus species. Broad knowledgeof microbiology and biological agricultural testing is desirable. It will be yourresponsibility to coordinate daily activities to test commercial and experimentalbiological concepts primarily in the laboratory, but also extending togreenhouses and/or growth chambers. You will also develop and follow testing protocols,collect and interpret data, and provide feedback on process and assessmentimprovements while complying with APHIS, OSHA, and internal safety SOPs. This is an excellentopportunity for you to demonstrate your technical experience working withbacillus and rhizobia bacterial species with expertise in isolating, culturing,conducting quality assurance and some molecular microbiology analyses(including sterile media prep, serial dilution, plating, incubation, PCR, 16SrRNA sequencing etc.). You will alsoshowcase your knowledge of agronomy, soil science and plant physiology to enabledaily decision making in experimental upkeep, experimental design, andgeneration of accurate data, as well as technical aptitude and creativity suitable tomake decisions about practicality of research requests and opportunities tofulfill these requests efficiently. Thisrole will require your ability to spray pesticides in the greenhouse and workwith experimental compounds including: reading and understanding labels andSDS?s, following SOP?s, wearing proper PPE including occasional use of arespirator. Leveraging your Master's Degree in a biological or agricultural science such as Microbiology, Plant Physiology or Agronomy combined with your related experience (experience in the field and greenhouse is preferred), you will implement in-planta and in-vitro microbiology research to support existing and pipeline BASF inoculant and biologic products, including rate studies, comparison to third party or market standards, and new formulation screening.? Utilizing your technical knowledge of agronomically important biologics sufficient to drive daily research activities, develop new protocols, and provide recommendations, you will standardize and continually improve lab, greenhouse and field-testing methods to demonstrate plant benefits of inoculants and biologics in order to support key stakeholders including marketing, technology team, formulation development and others.? Applying your strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, along with your proficiency with Microsoft Office and trial management software (ARM), you will organize and interpret data and communicate to the manager and internal stakeholders.? Your willingness to learn how to operate seed treatment application equipment and follow SOP?s with chemical and biological actives to ensure safety and compliance will be essential as you work with the STTC team during spring treating season to prep, weigh, treat, and ship seed to external and internal field trials.
