Network Engineer Pay Rate: $69.00 per hour Your specific duties as a Network Engineer will include: • The Assigned Client Engineer’s primary responsibilities will consist of proactive management and day-to-day technical network operations support for a mixed Windows / Unix-based global enterprise environment. • The candidate will help manage the full network environment including administration responsibilities across a wide array of technical services. • The engineer will provide services as the primary engineer assigned to customer accounts in support of their systems, applications, daily administration, and management. • Engineer will work closely with Service Managers and internal teams to ensure that all aspects of the customer’s ongoing network needs are successful. • Engineer will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of network diagrams, custom monitors, RTS (Return to Service) documents, and Knowledge Base articles as needed. Engineer will be available for escalations 24×7 on an on-call basis. • He / She will conduct ongoing training for first line support personnel on their assigned customer’s environment. • Identifies and corrects recurring technical issues within their assigned customer environments. • Advises customer and acts as their SME – subject matter expert – for their environment for ongoing improvements. • Responsible for proactive network monitoring, trouble isolation, and resolution of issues with LAN, WAN, and WLAN technologies. • Perform trouble isolation and repair of logical and physical layers, including directing internal and third-party resources to facilitate resolution of faults on the network within established baseline objectives. Work with Change Management, Lifecycle Management, and Problem Management Teams as required. Maintain accurate logs of trouble isolation and repair efforts and escalate/communicate issues to management as needed. Network Engineer Job Requirements As a Network Engineer you must represent our company well by being responsible, punctual and motivated to go above and beyond the call of duty. You must also be highly detail-oriented and organized with excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities. It is also important that you display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Required • 5+ years of experience and a solid experience profile in operations supporting switched Ethernet and IP services • 3+ years hands-on experience configuring, managing, and troubleshooting routers and switches in a production WAN/LAN/MAN environment. • Proven ability to absorb, master, and leverage emerging technologies. • Requires strong verbal and written communications skills as well as exceptional customer service skills. • Must have demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills. • Requires an advanced understanding of the OSI model, including TCP/IP, client/server designs, routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), LAN technologies (FDDI, Ethernet, Token Ring), WAN technologies (Internet, POS, ISDN, private lines), VLANs DNS, VPNs, IP telephony and circuit testing. • Understanding of overall business functions and the impact of technical decisions on business results. • Strong sense of urgency in support of all customers. • Ability to understand business requirements for technical needs and utilize the business requirements information to prioritize work, develop solutions, and set urgency for others. • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills, with logical problem solving from Layer 1 through Layer 7 of the OSI model. • Ability to work in a team environment that requires a great deal of independent thinking and work execution. • Demonstrated commitment to providing customer-focused quality service. • Exceptional documentation skills are required. • Exceptional planning skills and ability to work within change control parameters. • Ability to work well under pressure. • Ability to follow policies and procedures that dictate minimum standards for ticket handling, such as customer communication status updates, timelines for escalation, management communication status updates, etc. • Requires the ability to thrive in a demanding, fast paced 24x7x365 operations support environment, which requires the ability to work any shift, plus overtime, weekends and holidays as needed. • Telecom industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNA-Voice and ITIL are preferred..
