Seed Production Nursery Lead Advancements in precision agriculture, environmental characterization, and equipment are changing the way that we think about optimizing seed production for our breeding programs. Monsanto is seeking a highly motivated individual with the ability to work as a member of a Global Breeding Seed Production team. In this role, the Seed Production Nursery Lead will lead a team that is dedicated to advancing our seed production for Monsanto???s breeding pipelines. The Nursery Lead is responsible for leading a team of Agronomic Research Specialists in day-to-day operations of breeding seed production fields, seed processing and inventory management to ensure that the pipelines for each crop are in good operations and targets will be achieved. The Nursery Lead will participate in strategic initiatives aimed at delivering centralized seed production and will collaborate with key partners to advance the technologies used in research seed production. The Nursery Lead will be the key driver for developing site capacity plans, work closely with the Site Lead to build a risk mitigation strategy and assist in the development of key metrics to drive a nursery crop cycle plan. Primary Responsibilities Include: Lead the research seed production teamLead multi crop seed production nurseries and processingProduction of high quality seed and required quantities. Optimize equipment efficiency uptimeManage and prioritize day to day operations including planting, data collection, harvest and seed processingManage large complex projects and crop pipelines across seed production networkLead, develop and create opportunities for team members to learn new skills, acquire leadership experience and grow into new roles. Maintain Monsanto???s commitment to safety by actively participating in the Monsanto???s safety programCollaborate with Global Compliance Team to secure our Freedom to Operate and global seed movement Partner with the field automation team to build strategy for: mechanized nursery harvest, ear imaging, optical seed sorting, and opportunities for RFID tracking Collaborate with Pipeline Enrichment to understand nursery crop cycle timelines and develop effective dashboards and resource management toolsMaintain continuous improvement culture Qualifications:Required Skills: Bachelor???s degree with 3+ years of experience in agricultural engineering, management, agricultural sciences, plant breeding, or related field Demonstrated aptitude for team leadership and project management Aptitude to lead by influence and establish strong partnerships Business strategy acumen and ability to build alignment across teams Ability to solve complex problems and lead with creative and effective solutions Documented individual leadership and excellent organizational skills Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, visualization software, and data management Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal and organizational skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams across multiple countries Ability to travel overnight occasionally, including international travel Desired Skills/ExperienceMS degree 5+ years of experience in Seed Production Team leadership and management. Project management experience, with the ability to drive projects to completion Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to identify opportunities for improvement and independently craft solutionsSkills and experience working with multidisciplinary research and field teams Understanding and implementation of operational research models for complex logistics Ability to recognize trends in metrics data and act on implementing improvements Advanced communication, presentation skillsApply for this job.
