QUALIFICATIONS: – Knowledge and understanding of farming and general farming practices- Have farm, fertilizer, agronomy, nutrient management, or precision agriculture background- Able to operate or learn to operate farm equipment- Possess strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with farmers, agronomists, neighbors, and fellow employees- Possess self-motivation and organizational skills- Be hands-on with a strong work ethic- Be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and E-Mail- Willingness to learn and grow JOB DESCRIPTION: Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for a Nutrient & Crops Manager for this progressive cattle operation located in southeastern Wisconsin. Oversee and coordinate application of manure as fertilizer to fields in accordance with the nutrient management plan and application standards. Oversee and coordinate the harvest of corn silage. Maintain communication and relationship with the farmers the dairy works with about application and harvest schedules. Inspect separation equipment and make sure system is working properly. Assist the owner and farm manager with keeping the facility operating effectively and maintaining curb appeal during the off-seasons.Duties & Responsibilities:- Study and understand the nutrient management plan (NMP), setback regulations, and reporting requirements to maintain compliance with NMP and Federal, State, and local regulations.- Work and communicate with our nutrient management planner and custom applicator for nutrient applications, application rates, setback marking, record keeping, and future planning.- Mark out all setbacks with GPS and flags prior to nutrient applications, and ensure setbacks are being followed.- Utilize a drone to oversee nutrient application and take as-applied photos for farmers.- Review application maps after application.- Communicate and maintain business relationships with our farmers to coordinate nutrient applications, tillage, cover crop planting, and silage planting and harvest.- Use equipment to keep roads clean during silage harvest and nutrient application to maintain positive image with neighbors around the farm.- Assist with fall tillage and stalk chopping.- Inspect manure separation equipment making sure it is working properly so farmers get a consistent product and our facility operates properly.- Coordinate any repairs with separation equipment with mechanic or dealer.- Measure water usage and lagoon levels weekly and send a report to site manager and owner via email.- Record Equipment hours monthly and send a report to site manager and owner via email.- Utilize tractor, batwing mower, and sprayer to keep facility looking nice during the summer.- Assist with snow removal during winter.- Assist the owner with various small projects.
