CHS has an exciting opportunity at our Jayhawk Pipeline facility in McPherson, Kansas.
We are looking for an Operations Superintendent to supervise and direct operations personnel in a safe and efficient manner.
You must be a detail-oriented, results-driven individual with a commitment to quality, accuracy and the ability to organize and prioritize workloads to meet deadlines.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work in both a team environment and on self-directed tasks are essential. You will: Model and encourage safe behavior.Develop a vision for operations personnel and communicate to employees and help them understand their role in achieving that vision.Meet one on one with each employee at least twice each year to clearly communicate expectations for that employee's position and how the employee is performing compared to the expectations.Become extremely knowledgeable with all aspects of pipeline measurements.
Assist with investigation of pipeline overage and shortages.Become familiar with all aspects of oil movements and scheduling along with control room operations and SCADA.Provide oversight and direction on the Control Room Management Plan, Public Awareness Program, and Management of Change, and will serve on committees supporting these plans and others.Direct company operations so that the operational needs are met and regulatory compliance is assured.Coordinate maintenance and repair work with Maintenance Superintendent to minimize downtime and costs.Review and approve all operational controllable expenses.
Monitor and control operational costs.Handle contacts with customers, local civic representatives, and regulatory agencies.Assist in the preparation of budgets and operating costs control.Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested. Basic Qualifications: (required)Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from an accredited two-year college or technical school;Minimum of 5 years related experience in industry and/or training; OREquivalent combination of education and experience.Knowledge and application of PHMSA and OSHA regulations to pipeline operations and maintenance practicesA strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to work extended hours as needed Preferred Qualifications: (desired)Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or related field from an accredited four-year college or university10 plus years of pipeline operations/maintenance experience1 plus year of supervisory and/or team leadership experienceBasic knowledge of pipeline scheduling, metering and hydraulicsDetailed knowledge of damage prevention and control room managementWorking knowledge of FERC requirements for common carrier pipelinesExperience with Maximo or another CMMS
