We currently have a position available at our Simplot Grower Solutions location in Caldwell, ID.
SUMMARYUnder general direction, performs a variety of job responsibilities which may include delivery of fertilizer and chemical products to customers from the Unit office, equipment and plant maintenance work, and fertilizer blending. May perform mechanic responsibilities in regards tomaintenance shop and equipment which includes maintenance scheduling, partspurchasing, maintenance recordkeeping, co-worker training, metal fabricationand specific mechanical skills. Reports and makes operational recommendationsto Supervisor.
RESPONSIBILITIESMay assist with recordkeeping related to warehouse/inventory responsibilities. Performs varied responsibilities such as: equipment and plant maintenance including welding, pump and engine overhauls, painting, and general housekeeping responsibilities; loading and delivering fertilizer and chemicals to customers; operating equipment to blend fertilizer; monitoring product application by calculating amounts, calibrating equipment, controlling application rates, and cleaning and storing equipment after application process; receiving and unloading product and performing warehouse inventory and storage functions. Miscellaneous duties such as assisting with special projects, attending training sessions, providing back-up when needed, etc. Attends training sessions and safety meetings. May assist insafety meetings on shop related issues, responds to special projects andprovides back-up when needed.Performs varied responsibilities such as general equipmentmaintenance, welding and equipment fabrication stainless steel pipe fitting,engine overhauls (Cummins, Cat, gas engines, etc.), repairs to any rollingstock in fleet (gas or diesel) and maintenance and repairs to all applicators.Assists, trains and oversees co-workers helping with shoptasks and assignments. Purchases all shop supplies and parts to assure bestprice and availability.Keeps maintenance records on all trucks and trailers so weare in compliance with DOT regulations. Responsible for housekeeping of shoparea and also must respond to emergency breakdowns away from the Unit.
REQUIREMENTSHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED)Two plus years related experience and/or training. Knowledge of the local geography is preferred to assist in locating farms and fields. Basic knowledge in the areas of electrical, mechanical, welding and metal fabrication are preferred. Ability to assist in equipment rebuilds. Ability to calibrate a variety of application equipment. Ability to maintain maintenance records for equipment Ability to take on dispatching duties when necessary. Ability to make-up blend tickets as necessary. Ability to set up and calibrate injection pumps. Endorsements of Hazmat and Hazardous Material Handler is preferred at this level. This level requires good knowledge of the geography/roads/farms and ability to develop trust with mgmt that moderate and heavy traffic can be negotiated effectively. Attention to Detail: Understanding of the necessity andvalue of accuracy and attention to detail; ability to process information withhigh levels of accuracy.Ability to safely use and troubleshootvarious types of hand tools, power tools, machinery, motors, vehicles, andother equipment.Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of the organization'sindustry group, trends, directions, major issues, regulatory considerations,and trendsetters; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diversesituations.Inventory Management: Knowledge of issues andconsiderations for effectively managing local or distributed inventories of rawmaterials, work in progress and finished goods.Manufacturing Equip: Knowledge of the electrical,mechanical and logistics equipment used in manufacturing, including its safeusage, maintenance and storage.Welding: Ability to produce sound welds in accordance withthe qualifications required by applicable welding codes, standards, and/orproject specifications in order to comply with BRC Global Standards and auditrequirements, including wire feed, stick, Heliarc, Oxy-Acetylene and sanitary(food-safe) welds for repair and fabrication.Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with endorsement to drive a ten wheeler and trailer with air brakes on the highway; generally referred to as a Class A.
