Responsible for performing assigned activities related to growing and maintenance of crops for breeding and trialing.Accountabilities
Lead the activity of preparing trays and containers and filling with soil to support trial requests
Manage, organize, and monitor the inventory of soil, containers, and trays to ensure supplies are always available to meet trial requests
Supervise the unloading of soil, containers and other supplies from delivery vehicles following HSE standards. Inspect the quality and quantity of deliveries before acceptance.
Maintain records of soil and container usage; provide reports when requested
Communicate with suppliers to order soil and containers to prevent any shortages
Inform the Trial Support Administrator to order any special supplies that require a P-card
Oversee soil sterilization following standard operating procedures and HSE protocols
Lead the activity of moving containers to the assigned growing locations and placing pots based on requirements
Setup drip irrigation lines for plants and ensure they are operating correctly Perform additional tasks as assigned such as transplanting, plant maintenance, weeding, spacing pots, plant movement, sweeping, discarding plants, etc.
Responsible for chemical applications that occur within assigned greenhouses. Mix and apply pesticides wearing all appropriate PPE including spray suits and respirators while using high pressure sprayers or other spray equipment
During weekends and holidays, irrigate and fertilize crops under the supervision of the Growing Team
Maintain and update crop activity records, documents, chemical application logs, etc.
Proactively monitor and scout plants for early detection of insects, diseases, and viruses. Report issues to Manager or Growing Team
Ensure all HSES and phytosanitary protocols are implemented, followed, and enforced

Must have working knowledge of safe work practices; interprets policies to workers and enforces Syngentas HSE safety policies and programs to be in compliance with the cooperations policies and state and federal regulations.
Knowledge of proper and safe use of power and hand tools used for landscaping; suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.Critical experience
2+ years of work experience in agriculture, landscape, or grounds maintenance
Experience applying chemicals to plants
Some experience and knowledge operating large agriculture equipment such as forklifts, tractors, etc.
Experience operating lawn mowers, edgers, weed eaters, chain saws, rototiller, leaf blowers, etc.
