Press Operator Job Description-
Observe and listen to equipment to detect possible malfunctions, such as leaks or plugging, and report malfunctions or undesirable tastes to supervisors.
Set up, operate, and tend equipment that cooks, mixes, blends, or processes ingredients in the manufacturing of food products, according to formulas or recipes.
Turn valve controls to start equipment and to adjust operation to maintain product quality.
Select and measure or weigh ingredients, using English or metric measures and balance scales.
Follow recipes to produce food products of specified flavor, texture, clarity, odor, or color.
Mix or blend ingredients, according to recipes, by controlling processing equipment.
Inspect product and the mixers every 15 minutes to ensure product levels and quality.
Fill processing containers, such as blenders, scales, hoppers, with ingredients, pressing switches/buttons, by opening valves, by starting pumps or injectors, or by hand.
Test food product samples for moisture content and continue processing until desired levels are reached.
Press switches and turn knobs to start, adjust, and regulate equipment such as blenders, hoppers, scales, extruders, transfer pipes, transfer conveyors and blowers.
Record production and test data for each food product batch, such as the ingredients used, temperature, test results, and time cycle.
Determine mixing sequences, based on knowledge of temperature effects and of the solubility of specific ingredients. Observe gauges and thermometers to determine if the mixing chamber temperature is within specified limits, and turn valves to control the temperature.
Housekeeping, Product Changeover and Sanitation duties.
Clean and sanitize processing equipment and processing areas.
Conduct Pre-operational, changeover inspections of equipment and areas.
Notify management of non-conformance issues. Place products/equipment on carts or conveyors to transfer them to the next stage of processing.
Give directions to other workers who are assisting in the batch making process.
Inspect equipment after cleaning to ensure that food residue has been removed.
Modify cooking and forming operations based on the results of sampling processes, adjusting time cycles and ingredients to achieve desired qualities, such as firmness or texture.
Formulate or modify recipes for specific kinds of food products as directed.
Follow all company policies, cGMP, Food Safety, OHSA Safety regulations and SOP / SSOPs. Grade food products according to product specifications or according to type, color, bouquet, and moisture content.
Reports deviations of manufacturing specification on specified product quality documentation. Dumps specified quantities of ingredients into extrusion mixer hopper, and reads meter to ensure required ingredients feed rate. Prepares report of inventory on the number of batches and WIP pasta Product produced. Break Relieve for other Extrusion Press Operator (s). Conduct sanitation task on the food processing equipment and areas as assigned. Use Cleaning Chemicals and follow SSOPs. Other duties as assigned. Work overtime as required. Skill Requirements:
