* Interpret and follow all standard operating and cGMP procedures in the manufacture of bulk MFAs. * Understand and operate production equipment, such as fermenters, evaporators, dryers and associated equipment. * Monitor the production equipment and process; take readings and maintain appropriate documentation. * Adhere to all safety procedures. * Partner with maintenance to maintain equipment and minimize downtime. Follow all Safety & Environmental procedures to insure proper set-up of equipment for maintenance. * Analyze, troubleshoot and resolve production issues. * Start-up and shutdown production equipment as needed. * Minimize possibility for product losses in the production process. * Perform minor disassembly and reassembly of equipment (e.g. pH/DO probes, baghouse changes, etc.). * Perform shift housekeeping and cleaning duties as assigned. * Prompt and excellent attendance and be available for necessary overtime and emergency call-ins as needed. * Assist with training of new operators.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: * High School Diploma or equivalent, with some college experience preferred. * Two (2) years experience as a manufacturing process operator required, preferably working with chemical or batch type production, or equivalent.
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
* Ability to methodically perform tasks associated with the production process. * Communicate well with other employees relative to production issues. * Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. * Ability to operator production systems, such as Delta V DCS. * Computer literacy with e-mail, internet, and online training modules. * Ability to perform basic mathematics. * Strong attention to detail. * Ability to access all areas of production facility and to routinely lift 50 pounds.
PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee can be exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee can be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee will occasionally perform work in wet and/or humid conditions; in high, precarious places; around hazardous chemicals; in outside weather conditions; in extreme heat; in areas of risk of electrical shock or radiation; and around vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
