With operations in 13 states, CSS is one of the largest growers of chip potatoes and seed potatoes in North America. Our three main business segments include chip potato, seed potato and specialty potato production. RelationshipsThe Farm Manager works with the Pacific Northwest team, other CSS Farm Managers and corporate teams to effectively manage approximately 1,900 acres of organic vegetable production annually. This position will directly manage support staff and interface with shared resources on a daily basis. Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesThe primary responsibility of this position is to efficiently manage the farm operations to ensure excellent customer and vendor satisfaction so the site is able to meet financial goals and objectives by: Working collaboratively with company leadership to establish successful business model for Organic Vegetable ProductionLook for opportunities to network and expand the awareness of CSS FarmsProvide analysis and information to team to help in decision making processesWhere appropriate, represent CSS Farms in the marketplace and seek to expand our business. Provide oversight and leadership to all production activitiesLead all field operations, including tillage, planting, cultivation, harvest, and cover crop establishmentCoordinate agronomic activities, including irrigation, fertilizer applications, and chemical applicationsOversee storage management and shipping activities where relevantSupport innovation in agronomic, equipment, and storage practices Provide general management leadership to the farming operationHelp build team of full-time employees and manage/motivate all personnelMaintain P&L responsibility with significant focus on cost managementParticipate in budgeting and business planning processManage purchasing of supplies, equipment, and inputs. Grow and maintain positive landlord, customer, and community relationsManage shipping activities to deliver excellent customer service and qualityServe as a positive representative to the community, land partners, and other local suppliers. Required Position QualificationsDemonstrated strong work-ethic, outstanding leadership ability and exceptional interpersonal skillsHigh School Diploma or equivalentSelf-directed individual who leads projects to identify and implement solutions with team inputDemonstrated strategic management of irrigated cropsDemonstrated financial management experience and budgeting skillsAdaptability to changing situations and have the ability to perform multiple tasks with multiple prioritiesProficient in the use of Windows based computer programs (Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and a general aptitude with software systemsExcellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to train and work with operational personnel on the farmSuperior organizational and project management skills and experience leading and managing peopleAbility to acquire and hold a valid US driver s license and successfully pass vehicle insurance verificationCandidates must be eligible to work unrestricted in the U.S. without company sponsorshipAbility to comprehend, read, write and communicate proficiently in English and interact with all levels of the organization. Preferred Position QualificationsBachelors of Science degree in an Ag related fieldBilingual in English/SpanishExperience with irrigated Organic crop production and associated agronomic practices5+ years experience managing agricultural programs over a large geographic region as well as ability to travel up to 30% of work time CompensationSalary will be commensurate with experience and skills.
