Packaging Graphics Manager – Food Group (Boise, ID)

We currently have a position available at our Food Group headquarters in Boise, ID. SUMMARY Manage the creation, review, approval, and final implementation of all domestic, international, foodservice, and retail packaging graphics to produce timely and accurate packaging for marketing, sales, production, and distribution. Packaging components include all primary and secondary packaging: corrugated, poly and polykraft flexible packaging, cartons, tubs, lids, and labels.
Maintain accurate packaging specifications for all items and locations for over 1800 printing plates.
Negotiate and coordinate with prepress suppliers and customers on projects, costs, timelines, specifications, and graphic layouts. Ensure that the results meet the needs of marketing, operations, and scheduling in a timely and accurate manner.
Manage internal graphics team and external prepress supplier relationships ensuring accuracy, responsiveness, quality, and cost effectiveness. Develop and maintain department procedure and process documentation. Provide training as appropriate both internally and externally on department procedures and software.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team including packaging engineering, regulatory, marketing, sales, purchasing, external pre-press partners, and printers.
Keep current on US and other countries' regulations concerning packaging graphics, import/export requirements, foodservice and retail packaging requirements, and have a working knowledge of FDA and GS1 requirements for food packaging. Contract with translation services.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, develop and implement solutions to increase cost effectiveness, improve efficiencies, provide access to real time packaging data and enhance customer satisfaction. Recommend alternatives where appropriate and develop contingency plans to meet objectives.
Design/redesign printing plates to accommodate material changes minimizing impact and allowing for maximum flexibility for later changes. Design graphics with printer capabilities in mind.REQUIREMENTSBachelor's Degree from 4-year college or university. Five Years of Equivalent Experience preferably in packaging design. Experience with consumer packaged goods, preferably food. Knowledge of flexible and corrugated packaging printing capabilities and processes. Experience with version control / document management systems / packaging specification systems. Strong organization skills. Ability to manage heavy project in a fast paced environment. Detail oriented with high level of accuracy. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Illustrator. Combination of education, training and/or experience will be considered for this position.
