We currently have a position available at our BUSINESS facility in Othello Plant – Othello, WA. Located in Washington's beautiful Columbia Basin, Othello is surrounded by scenic parks and wildlife. Summary:This position is responsible for ensuring all finished cased product is efficiently palletized through an automated or manual process. This will be done based on customer specifications and in a manner consistent with safety, quality and production goals. Additionally, this position is responsible for operating a lift truck in a safe manner to transport finished product as well as packaging and production materials.Nature and Scope:The Palletizing Attendant is a member of the packaging team which consists of Frozen Inspectors, Cold Room Laborers, Palletizers, Palletizing Attendants, Production Lift Truck Operators, Packaging Operators, Packaging Area Coordinators and Packaging Mechanics. The individual in this position is accountable to their assigned Packaging Supervisor and Shift Manager.The Othello facility is one of seven plants (Moses Lake, WA; Nampa, ID; Aberdeen, ID; Caldwell, ID; Portage la Prairie, Manitoba; and Grand Forks, ND) within the processed potato division of the Food Group Division of the J.R. Simplot Company that produces food service french fries, granulated dehydrated mashed potatoes, shredded and southern style hash browns, and specialty products.The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of palletizer area equipment, case sealing, and stretch wrapping equipment. The Palletizing Attendant will be responsible for hand palletizing product, operating and managing the stretch wrapping and case sealing equipment, operating a forklift to transport finished product and packaging materials, facilitate inventory control by utilizing the inventory control system. This position is also responsible for keeping food surfaces, product, and packaging areas and equipment in a sanitary condition consistent with food quality standards.The individual in this position will accomplish these tasks by utilizing a team concept through working with team members and following directions and instructions from Area Coordinators, Supervisor, Shift Manager or other members of management. This position, along with all packaging team members, will support shift goals in the packaging of product. This includes meeting quality standards, meeting required packaging volumes and maintaining the packaging area. It is imperative the person conducts him/herself in a manner that ensures alertness and constant awareness of the safe operation of equipment and its surroundings. Positive work relationships and written and verbal communications are key for the success of the individual holding this position. Overtime requirements in this position are common and may be required to meet operational goals. Responsibilities:Responsibility 1. Must be able to complete training on the safe operation of the lift truck and successfully pass and maintain certification requirements. This training and certification are requirements in accordance with both WAC 296-24-230 and WAC 296-24-23025Responsibility 2. Must be able to complete training on fall protection and must meet and maintain fall restraint requirements. This training and requirements are in accordance with WAC 296-155-245 through 24525 and WAC 296-24-75005.Responsibility 3. Ensures cases with finished product are properly stacked on quality, unbroken pallets in designated patterns.Responsibility 4. Maintains and operates the case sealing equipment and case shaker areas and equipment.Responsibility 5. Ensures damaged or held cases are reworked, reglued and repalletized.Responsibility 6. Ensures that an adequate supply of materials is available as needed at all lines, stations and machines in packaging.Responsibility 7. Ensures that the palletizing area glue machines and surrounding areas are maintained in a food sanitary manner, which meets Company standards.Responsibility 8. Ensures that major clean-up duties are performed in a food safe manner, which meets Company standards.Responsibility 9. Demonstrates ability to operate and maintain the palletizer, slip sheeter, and stretch wrap equipment and area.Responsibility 10. Ensures proper handling of bulk product. Responsibility 11. Ensures rework product is available as needed to facilitate efficient packaging operation. Responsibility 12. Ensures lines are supplied with bulk and that finished product is removed. Responsibility 13. Ensures proper Inspection of Lift truck. Responsibility 14. Demonstrates the ability to prioritize all job responsibilities such as requests for production supplies while operating the line.Responsibility 15. Provides assistance to the Line 4 operator during any tube, poly, or case changes as needed.Responsibility 16. Participates in all functions of the stripping duties as needed.Responsibility 17. Provides assistance for all tote handling activities as needed.Responsibility 18. Ensures that attendance and participation in training activities are appropriate for the position, and the acquired skills and knowledge are applied.Responsibility 19. Ensures there is no injury to self or others by following safe work practices and policies.Responsibility 20. Ensures self-compliance with Company policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and the Union Labor Agreement.Responsibility 21. Ensures that the interaction with team members and other support groups is conducted in a participative management style conducive with operational goals.Responsibility 22. Conducts oneself in a professional manner by ensuring confidentiality regarding sensitive issues and ensuring that appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the company.Responsibility 23. Must be able to maneuver in close quarters and climb stairs and ladders.11. Must be able to stand on concrete floors for long periods of time.12. Must be able to work in extreme environments: hot or cold temperatures and wet and slick floors.13. Must be able to work with and around hazardous chemicals wearing appropriate PPE, includes but no limited to, full wetsuit, boots, chemical gloves and face shield or goggles.Combination of education, training and/or experience will be considered for this position.Hourly Pay:
