Payroll Manager-US & Canada
Overview:The Payroll Manager will work within a team environment to implement best practices; comply with policies and procedures; recommend and implement business process improvements, and work in a centralized payroll function that processes payroll for over 4,000 employees including hourly, salary, union and expatriate employees across multiple jurisdictions and in compliance with federal, state and provincial laws. This is a hands on position with responsibility for processing Canadian payroll and managing a team of U.S. payroll processors. Bunge is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Minorities/Women/Veterans/DisabledEssential Functions:•Lead the payroll process for Canada and U.S. including managing three payroll processors•Timely and accurate processing of Canadian payroll, including payroll reconciliations.•Possess or develop detailed knowledge of ADP payroll functions •Ensure compliance with federal, state and provincial payroll laws•Prepare Canadian payroll journal entries•Responsible for payroll related G/L account reconciliations•Reconciliation of year end T4/T4A, R1/R2 summaries•Completion of record of employment (ROE) reports•Maintaining documentation of procedures•Continuous improvement to processes and procedures to gain efficiencies and synergies with follow through to implementation•Preparation of payroll related remittances such as Manulife, garnishments etc.•Additional projects as requested by management•Preparation of various payroll reports, both standard and ad-hoc•Preparation of all payroll related government and non-government remittances•Responding to internal and external inquiries, troubleshooting and resolution of issuesQualifications/Requirements:•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration preferred•Five plus years of payroll experience required including a minimum of 2 years Canadian payroll processing experience; one to three years of supervisory/management experience required•Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation is preferred•Strong analytical and problem solving skills are required•Self-starter with a strong attention to detail•Demonstrated leadership, team engagement and influencing skills required•Knowledge of multi-province payroll, federal and provincial wage and labor laws, employee benefit plans, employment practices and payroll taxes•Ability to understand and improve systems & processes including interfaces between Bunge’s operational systems, general ledger, payroll vendor, and time and labor system•Comprehensive knowledge of best practices and trends•Ability to improve processes and influence change in a matrix environment•Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organizationApply for this job.
