Planning & Economics Engineer
CHS has an exciting opportunity at our Oil Refinery facility in McPherson, KS. We are looking for a Planning & Economics Engineer to perform analysis to support the economic decisions of the McPherson Refinery as they apply to refinery operations, crude oil supply, refined fuels sales, pipeline operations, and capital investments.
You must be a detail-oriented, results-driven individual with a commitment to quality, accuracy and the ability to analyze process operations and organize and initiate problem solving strategies. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a strong commitment to customer service and the ability to work in both a team environment and on self-directed tasks are necessary.
You will:Prepare and present the McPherson Monthly Operations Plan.Provide the refinery production plans, monthly post-audits, benchmarking reports and analysis, crude oil refining values and capital project DCF/payouts by use of linear programming/operational research, economic analysis and benchmarking techniques.Provide assistance, entirely or in part, to economic studies. Gather appropriate data from various parties involved; propose raw materials supply and markets basis; prepare model files and make series of runs; prepare and convey appropriate conclusions.Monitor refinery gasoline, diesel and renewable fuels baseline data and prepare reports to EPA.Act as the data coordinator for the Solomon Refinery Performance Analysis and prepare a monthly Solomon performance report.Maintain refinery LP model database including integration of unit test run data. Monitor current unit operations & yields and adjust model as appropriate. Maintain the configuration of the refinery inputs, processes, blending operations, and inventory options utilizing H.S.I. GRTMPS software and KBC Petro-SIM.Maintain the refinery Crude assay database.Communicate both verbally and written with various levels within the organization.Represent the Refinery's commercial interests with third parties.Perform other duties as needed or requested.Basic Qualifications: (required)Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field Three or more years related refinery experience Understanding of Crude Oil Refinery processesAbility to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documentsExcellent verbal and written communications and interpersonal relationship skillsAbility to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization existsAbility to work with various computer applications including, but not limited to Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access, internet, and logistics systemsPreferred Qualifications: (desired)Previous Economic and Planning experienceExperience with H.S.I. GRTMPS and H.S.I. OMNIKnowledge of the Haverly GRTMPS system or linear programming softwareKnowledge of the KBC PetroSIM or Aspen HYSIS
