Plant BioDirect Enablement Intern – #01RXS
The Plant BioDirect Enablement Team in Woodland, CA is seeking a summer intern to conduct research on gene silencing in plants using topically applied dsRNAs. As a successful candidate, you will join a team of diverse researchers working to enable potent, economical plant gene suppression tools for use in agricultural production systems. The internship will comprise an individual research project and additional opportunities to collaborate and contribute to the larger team???s goals. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience in a wide variety molecular biology techniques such as whole plant dsRNA transfection, RNA extraction, gene expression analysis using qPCR, small RNA analysis using sequencing and Northern blotting, cloning, transformation vector construction, and plant protoplast isolation and transfection. You will present your findings to the Monsanto research group at the end of your term.This position is a fantastic opportunity for an individual to learn and grow in a dynamic research environment. Dates for this internship are May-August of 2019. Qualifications: Required:Enrolled at a university within the U.S. in pursuit of a Masters or Ph.D. in molecular biology, plant physiology, biochemistry or related fieldMinimum of 3.0 cumulative GPA or above on a 4.0 scaleHands-on experience in a Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or plant physiology LaboratoryAbility to work independently within a team environmentEffective verbal and written communication skillsApply for this job.
