Plant Phenotyping and Remote Sensing Intern
Corteva Agriscience (Agriculture Division of DowDuPont) is seeking a highly-motivated undergraduate student to work within the Spectroscopy group in Johnston, IA. The Spectroscopy group uses in-greenhouse and in-field tools to phenotype plants for experimental and production applications. These tools include unmanned aerial systems (UAS; drones) carrying a variety of imaging systems and hyperspectral imaging towers. Relating phenotype to plant health requires a wide array of skill sets, including knowledge of plant growth and development, statistics, and plant physiology. The student should be interested in whole-plant and whole-field phenotyping and have a strong interest in bridging the gap between traditional plant phenotyping and analytical technologies. Interns will be assigned a project to work on throughout the summer and will be expected to present their work at the conclusion of the internship. The internship will last 10 ? 12 weeks.Qualifications:QualificationsThe successful candidate must have completed at least one year of undergraduate studies in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Genetics, Plant Science, or related field with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Interns will gain experience with plant phenotyping, statistics and analytics, spectroscopic techniques, and general plant science and agronomy tools. These experiences will be through hands-on training and direct interaction with research scientists within Corteva Agriscience in the field and in greenhouse environments.
